Actor and filmmaker Sohail Khan is all set to explore a new format as he prepares to enter the reality television space. Known for his work in films as an actor, director, and producer, Sohail will now be seen as a wildcard contestant on Alliance, the upcoming reality show hosted by Kunal Kemmu. Ahead of his entry, the actor spoke about what inspired him to take up the challenge and why he believes this show is the right platform for him.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, Sohail said that Alliance gives him a chance to be recognised for who he is rather than being introduced as Salman Khan's brother. He explained that the show will allow viewers to see a different side of his personality without the influence of his family background.
Talking about his decision to participate, Sohail said, “In the show, there's no family name to lean on. No industry clout. It's just me, my mind, and how I play the game. If people walk away seeing a side of me they didn't expect, good. That's exactly why I'm here.”
Although reality shows are not new to the Khan family, Sohail admitted that he had never imagined himself becoming a contestant. Having watched Salman Khan host Bigg Boss for several years, he always felt that format suited his brother more than him because of its focus on emotions and personal conflicts.
“I’ve seen what it takes, the energy, the drama, the emotional toll. And I always thought, 'That's his space, not mine'. Salman’s show is about personalities, conflicts and emotions,” she added.

He believes Alliance offers a completely different experience, one that depends more on planning and intelligence than emotional confrontations.
“But this one is fundamentally different. It's a game of the mind. Strategy. Outwitting people without them knowing they've been outwitted. That challenge appealed to me in a way nothing else has.”
Sohail also shared how Salman reacted after learning that he would be joining the show. According to him, his brother was supportive but also wanted to make sure he understood what he was signing up for.
“He was intrigued,” Sohail revealed. “And then he said, 'You sure you know what you're getting into?' Which, knowing him, is both a warning and a blessing. I'll take it,” the Tubelight actor opined.

During the conversation, Sohail was also asked how members of his family would fit into a reality show if they ever participated together. He said Salman would naturally take on the role of the leader, while Arbaaz Khan would be the one to settle disagreements because he “listens, mediates and keeps everyone grounded.” Sohail added that the true strategist in the family is their mother, Salma Khan, who has successfully managed the family for many years.
Alliance is a strategy based reality show hosted by Kunal Kemmu where contestants compete through mind games, social alliances, and tactical decisions. The format focuses on intelligence, planning, and trust rather than physical challenges or emotional confrontations.
