Do you consider Aishwarya Rai a good actress?

I personally don't...very screechy and hammy.

Her only good performances were Choker Bali, Raincoat, and Provoked, none of which were mainstream Bollywood movies.

In Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, she was screaming her lungs out in one pivotal scene, but I didn't feel particularly moved.

She didn't deserve to win best actress that year.

Rai was spectacular imo in all Bhansali movies..she was just magic man!

This coming from someone who otherwise has a very low opinion on her as an actor..but oh boy..bhansali and maniratnam know how to extract the best from her

I don't know who else was in the running for best actress for 99? Rai became a rage and i feel deserved all awards for 99..who else was there? lolo was ruling then but then again she had hits like biwi no.1 which were just not award worthy..tabu was always there but they don't give mainstream awards for movies seen by 20 people

This scene is hilarious

During her time I thought she was average. But looking back and looking at the current crop of actresses I can safely say she’s a good actress. She’s definitely delivered, though not consistently. My fav performance of hers is actually in Provoked, I thought she did exceptionally well.

If you think she’s bad, I wonder what you think of the current lot whose just downright awful

I will say this Minty. Might be one of the few times you and I agree. Aish in Bhansali films is pure magic. No film of his with Deepika will ever match. She was much better in his films then Deepika has ever been. IMO! Padamavat would have made more sense with Aish in it.

Other than THAT. She is not really that talented. And Deepika is actually a better and more versatile actress then her. She can do modern and traditional roles decently well. For example, along with being good in Bhansali movies. Deepika can do a cocktail or a finding fanny really well.

She stole it from Tabu who was phenomenal in Hu tu tu. In the last 30 years they have made a joke out of these awards. They used the awards to fool the public who were unaware of the behind the scenes politics at that time. Now thanks to these 90 s actors and times, awards lost their authenticity & importance.
