I am sorry but she sucked as an actress and had no screen presence. She could have improved but unfortunately was gone too soon.

Yep even Sonam would have been more deserving than her.

Its not just about awards. Some actors and PH do have monopoly over awards due to which they win all the time. Deepika winning can still be explained. Why Jiah didn't get enough work after her debut is the biggest question.

She wasn't as good as you are portraying her to be. Didn't not have staggering screen presence.. just blended with the crowd as seen in housefull and Ghajini. Was not a striking beauty. Made her debut with RGV past his prime who wasn't taken seriously. Her debut movie was a flop. We all seem to be overlooking all this and are kind to her because she is dead. Tomorrow if God forbid Deepika dies suddenly all the ones that are bashing her and calling her unworthy (including me) will praise her to skies.

No I'm not overlooking anything and definitely not praising her because she's dead. I genuinely found her impressive in Nishabd. Her debut movie being a Flop or it being a movie when RGV was past his prime doesn't speak of her acting skills. Ghajini or Housefull didn't give her any scope either.

Deepika is a good actress who improved over time but her debut performance was honestly nothing great.

I agree, Jia Khan had a unique dusky beauty and a strong screen presence, she was very charming on screen and in Nishabd she was really good as a first timer performer in an unconventional role.

Even I wonder why she didn't got more chances after her debut. as a lead, I guess it is due to her first film flopping, was a very controversial one and she never had that strong internal network in the industry unlike Deepika who was a famous model already and had connections within, but the main thing was her debut becoming a blockbuster.

Even if OSO would have flopped it would have been hard for Deepika as well to survive just like what did happened with Gyatri Joshi in Swades despite having a beautiful face and performed brilliantly.

Deepika not just was dubbed but mostly she done nothing but burst bubble gum balloons in OSO, what went to her advantage was her sex appeal and her looks and makeover as a yesteryear's heroine which fitted like T on her persona, Deepika is a one lucky girl, and in the industry much more then talent or performances it is mainly the luck which stands out as the biggest factor to make or break anyone, as everyone do real hardwork but mainly luck decides who stands where, even the boxoffice results are mostly luck driven as many trashy films got hit and genuinely good films get flopped.
