My guess is this sudden shift in narrative is because of offscreen drama. SaiYa were doing so well and then boom, everything changed overnight. Satya suddenly fell in love, Sai became a characterless cheater and a mission out of the blue to whitewash DCP. All this shows that someone was pissed off with SaiYa popularity.

At least in Imlie someone's life was at stake and no one was an officer in power. Yahan to Virat Chavan was an ACP and still went ahead with this nonsense.
