Poor guy. He was carrying so much and so alone. He spent his whole childhood and life for this career and for what?

I think he would’ve still been with us if he was a solo singer and not in a boy group. The pressure must have been immense to succeed next to THE Cha Eunwoo, and to carry your group name Astro. He just seemed so nice and looked like he felt responsible for his group. He cared for everyone around him, and I think he couldn’t even talk about his struggles even with his family because he was being expected so much even from them and not just by his company.

He could’ve just retired and found another path, but I think he didn’t want to see anyone disappointed, because he was put in the limelight since childhood by his mom and this business is all he had ever known. He was so nice that he wouldn’t even dared to give his trouble to another person, not even his family.

And it’s always the sensitive ones, and the ones who smile so brightly as if to hide their pain.

How unbearable must it have been to him to pass away near his mom’s birthday. I just hope you found the peace you were looking for bin-ah, I was just becoming your fan😢

Excuse me but I think you should consider deleting it. Moonbin & CEW shared a very good bond from what I read. Also, the MOST popular ones don't have the easiest. Don't downgrade MB like that by no means it seemed that he was pressured by that.

I do stan someone from a boygrpup & I know their popularity, success ratio is different from one another. Jealousy, bitterness are parts of human emotions, yes! But it doesn't push one to take extreme step against their owm self. I'm sure they are not reading it here still words have weight so don't burden Eunwoo with such words.

For all we know Moonbin was having a tough time. Depression is never easy. We never know what someone's feelings are because they aren't showing it to us all the time. Beside, his family said, he passed away due to health issue...

So yeah, kindly consider deleting thst line. It's kinda triggering I can't explain why.

Look, I know they were buddies and I agree he probably wouldn’t even consider Eunwoo to be a rival but a brother, and even if he did, yes competition or jealousy alone wouldn’t make him take this drastic step.

And I am not blaming Eunwoo here.

What I am talking about is MoonBin being touted as the second best visual in Astro and as somewhat a shadow leader of the group, he was under immense pressure to succeed NEXT after Eunwoo’s success and fame, anyone could see that he was pushed and expected to be the next successor and mover of Astro after Eunwoo. MoonBin can simultaneously be happy for Eunwoo’s success, and still be concerned over how to move forward with his “projected” trajectory next to Eunwoo’s organic one. So I was pointing out THAT pressure alone can be a lot to one’s mental burden when an idol IS measured by popularity and cash you can bring to your company. There were Eunwoo akgae-s advocating for him to go solo last year, and one of the group members also left last month after a dating scandal. So anything and everything like that can add and snow ball inside a sensitive individual.

And I can post my thoughts and process my grief through them, so please don’t request to censor myself when I just wrote what I felt and saw, I just wanted to think through the reasons why he could’ve taken such a drastic step.😢

This is why I feel very scared for some Kpop idols. The pressure, the comparison, the unnecessary trolling is just too much.

Netizens go way overboard with all this without stopping to think about the impact it has on the celeb.

Since you seem to be someone who is part of the fandom your post came across rather surprising to me right now.

You are allowed to grief however way you want but my friend, there is a place for every conversation & what you did there could also be a mere speculation which do not hold any truth.

Every idol is under pressure. The best, the 2nd best, the least best. Among friends, family animosity exists then these group of guys are merely colleagues. One might be closer than the other or it could very well be an act.

Even if they are in good terms, I agree watching someone succeed more than you is never easy. If not them, their fan's will make a point that they see. I see that everyday. D-threats to everything nasty thing being sent my favourite's way 'coz he's best at his job & is successful, is loved & supported. So, somehow in others eyes it's his fault thst others are not supported as much. Or whatever they do, he has to speak up or whatever mess happens, whoever hates on others, it's all his fans' fault. People are bitter but can we stop them? Mentality is hard to changed.

Anyway, MB took a drastic step or not god only knows. It could be but since his parents request not to spread any rumours, said he had health related issues, I think fans & everyone who loves him should respect that.

Take care of yourself. Sending you my good wishes. 💙

I watched his drama At Eighteen, I liked so much in that drama. He had such a beautiful voice. I was so shocked when I heard this news. It's very hard to survive in such a toxic industry with toxic netizens.

Some choose to believe somethings are wholly unknowable, and find closure in that, but others just don’t. I think things can be inferred because we are all equally human. Thinking through the probable reasons on why an individual’s coping mechanisms failed to deal with their circumstances, justifies his actions, no matter how heretic it is deem to be, for me it is the highest level of empathising of the departed. I feel sad solely for him and his circumstances of his short life, that’s all. Some people will say it’s speculative nonsense, not true, wrong, disrespectful to the dead or living, or move on saying “we will never know”, “he was just depressed” etc. But they are all valid ways finding closure.

I still hope that it could be a natural cause, but it’s not likely. He was struggling with anxiety and told how even though it’s tiring he still choose to push himself to work for his fans, he was open about that. And the police was the only one who released an official statement on his death, weird twitter fans made up reasons like he had a stroke, it was due to health issues, he was murdered and whatnot, speculating themselves while telling others not to speculate and trying to shut down the police statement. And the Korean way of becoming all hush-hush and saving face is a whole another can of worms I just can’t.

And thanks for your wishes🖤

I agree. The fans act like they own their idol’s life, become overprotective over imagined parasocial relationships, and they don’t want them dating or having a normal young life. And the antis compare their favs and others endlessly and troll and bash.

And these companies are accomplices, they let fans’ desires dictate their direction in life because all they want is their money. That’s why idols exist in the first place, sell a dream and bring in cash. They churn them out, and expect endless success out of them, so they are overworked, mentally exhausted always, and never treated like individual humans. They are so commodified most don’t see the person behind the idol image they project.

Oh absolutely. Do you see the fan service the idols do within the bands resulting in in-fighting in the fandom 😵

It makes me sick. So in a way they are encouraging this madness and then when it goes out of hand, they lash out at the public. Who started it?
