Both are Telugu films which were much ahead of their times

Rudraveena is also a good movie with Chiranjeevi.

Thanks for the suggestions. Read the descriptions and wow those films touch some sensitive and bold topics. I guess 80s film makers were revolutionary and the audience at that time were mature enough to accept those topics. I know that Malayalam films of that period too tackled some bold topics like incest,infidelity,age-inappropriate attraction with sensitivity and grace. You might like director I.V.Sasi's films like Eeta with Kamal Haasan or Lakshmana Rekha with Mammootty and Mohanlal.

We'd like to believe that strong women in cinema is a recent phenomenon. But all these films prove that women have been making strong choices all along. And that top male stars of that time had no ego problems taking these roles.

I liked Sita Raman. It was a very different concept.

Is it not bit similar to veer zaara?

Sekhar Kammula is my all time favorite director.

Watched Anand yesterday on Hotstar. Very sweet romance with an adorable hero and a strong heroine. Thankfully there was enough Hindi dialogues sprinkled throughout, to make it understandable even though it didn't have subtitles.

Though Telugu cinema is more known for Allu Arjun and Rajamouli, it really shines with rom-coms. These days I'm loving those Raj Tarun films. He's usually cast as a mischievous loafer with a golden heart. A kleptomaniac, loafer, dog-napper. His roles give me Akshay Kumar vibes from Hera Pheri.

Allu Arjun - Arya 2 (Telugu)

Dulquer - OK Kanmani (Tamil)

Telugu cinema toh I have followed regularly after that. I do avoid movies starring the super bigwigs (Nagarjuna, Chiranjeevi, Venkatesh, Ravi Teja etc, even Mahesh Babu 😆). Nani, Ram, Allu Arjun, Nithin, Charan etc sab chalte hain. Could never bring myself to like Tarak though, tried very hard.

I hate watching dubbed versions though, so stick to subtitles. In turn, I was introduced to so many lovely songs, which I would have forwarded for sure coz of awful dubbing.
