A Story Told With Fresh Energy

Made in India: A Titan Story primarily focuses on Xerxes Desai, played wonderfully by Jim Sarbh, alongside JRD Tata, played magnificently by Naseeruddin Shah, and a wonderfully assembled supporting cast.

One of the biggest victories of the series lies in how it manages to balance a story that, on paper, might appear rather straightforward. At its core, it is the tale of an underdog achieving something extraordinary against overwhelming odds. We have seen versions of that narrative countless times before. Yet the show takes that familiar trope and injects it with enough intrigue, momentum, and personality to keep viewers consistently invested.

A large part of that success comes from the screenplay and editing. The way challenges emerge and the manner in which solutions gradually reveal themselves never feels underwhelming. Every hurdle carries weight and every breakthrough feels earned. The storytelling constantly keeps you curious about what comes next.

The Challenges Never Feel Repetitive

What works particularly well is that the show avoids turning itself into a dry corporate case study. The process of building Titan is filled with obstacles, but each one arrives with enough dramatic flavour to keep the proceedings engaging.

Sure, there are moments where one wishes Xerxes' personal life had been explored in greater depth. At times, some developments may even feel almost too good to be true considering the magnitude of the challenges being faced. Yet the series successfully convinces you that this level of determination was exactly what drove Xerxes and his team forward.

The result is a narrative that remains inspiring without becoming preachy and aspirational without becoming self congratulatory.

Parallel Tracks That Shine Brightly

Another major achievement from writer director Robbie Grewal is how effectively the parallel storylines are handled. While everything ultimately revolves around Titan and its creation, the show wisely understands that large achievements are rarely built by a single individual.

The supporting arcs receive substantial attention and, in many instances, become just as compelling as the central narrative itself.

The storyline involving Gaurav, played by Lakshvir Saran, and Megha, played by Kaveri Seth, is especially engaging. Their budding romance became my favourite track in the entire series. It brings warmth, charm, and emotional investment to the larger story.

At the same time, Megha's individual journey stands out beautifully. She is exactly the kind of female character one would love to portray in a show like this because she possesses both agency and depth.

Humor That Keeps Things Delightfully Light

A pleasant surprise is the amount of humour sprinkled throughout the series. Given the period setting and the enormous challenges surrounding Titan's creation, one might expect a relentlessly serious drama.

Instead, Made in India frequently finds opportunities for levity.

Paresh Ganatra's double role is an absolute delight and consistently generates laughs. More importantly, the humour never feels forced. It naturally emerges from the situations and characters, helping the show maintain an easygoing rhythm.

Because of this, viewers never feel overwhelmed by the constant stream of obstacles. You remain intrigued by the developments while also having a genuinely good time.

A Terrific Ensemble Led By Jim Sarbh

The supporting cast does a wonderful job across the board. As mentioned earlier, Lakshvir Saran, Kaveri Seth, and Vaibhav Tatwawadi as Akash emerge as clear standouts. They lend tremendous support to the larger narrative and ensure that every subplot feels meaningful.

Then there is the towering presence of Naseeruddin Shah. He feels almost tailor made to play JRD Tata. His unmistakable baritone and effortless screen presence elevate every scene he appears in.

Leading everyone from the front, however, is Jim Sarbh as Xerxes Desai, also known as Z. He is simply phenomenal. Sarbh ensures that Xerxes remains consistently likeable and supremely confident without ever slipping into arrogance. It is a delicate balance and both the actor and director deserve immense credit for achieving it so seamlessly.

Namita Dubey, despite limited screen time, also provides effective support.
