In general, any harassment case at work place has to be investigated by an internal committee, and we can not have external members in it. The matter is to be dealt within organisation, to keep in mind the identity and safety of both the parties involved and the organisation. Katha being on the other side of the table gives her an opportunity to listen to other employees about their perspective on Viaan. There are only two things possible in such a complaint. Either the person who complained withdraw the complaint midway (out of committee settlement) or the committee is convinced that the allegations are either wrong/right through evidences and take action accordingly.
In any harassment case, the responsibility of proving allegations wrong lies with the person against whom allegations are made. In this case, Shamita is showing the message from Viaan and it is a very strong evidence. Viaan has to prove that the message was not sent by himself, but someone else hacked his phone and sent it deliberately. That is why I feel, Keith and his recorded call will throw light on to the matter.
