He was Kjo's type: well built, tall, charming smile and an innocent smirk. He was a terrible dancer. No way did he deserve half the compliments Kjo gave him after his performance. Karan made it obvious he was attracted to Sid.

My basic take is Karan is great at selecting attractive men. Sidharth Malhotra, Sid Shukla, and even Fawad he first backed. But he does not have a great talent for selecting great-looking women. Not that it is all that matters. He did choose good talent with Aloo. But I doubt she showed as much promise in her audition. He should hire someone from a modeling agency or something next time he has to caste the most popular college girl. However, he did do an ok job with Tara Sutaria.

Can't expect anything else from KJo.

I don't think he cared about Sana enough. Even back in KKHH days, she benefitted him and his movie as choti Anjali, more than he cared about her..leading him to cast her.

She doesn't have a big name behind her, so she isn't KJo's favorite.

Even names like Katrina, Anushka that are big names now, but don't have a heavy surname behind them, haven't been of KJo's muse when it comes to casting them in a movie as a lead.

At that time Aloo was not much of an actress either. But she was good as a child artist. She had the best resume around that time.
