As much as we crib about nepotism, I know that its everywhere and I somehow get it. If you are from a business family, you don't want your parents to give the CEO post to anyone else, you would anyway want it and your parents will actually pass it on to you.

The difference is just that businesses are too many around the world and one can start their own but movie industry is relatively too small and closed door make it difficult for any new person to enter.

Kiara is a south Bombay girl who is related to Juhi Chawla who is best friends with SRK plus she is friends with Ambani's

She comes from a very well to do family.

Plus very pretty, very diplomatic and did a role like Lust Stories. She also gained immense fame as Preethi post Kabir Singh and that is when he cast her.

He casted Kiara after Dhoni in his short film or Max one other film, he only casted her post Kabir Singh and then she did give hits with his banner.

With KJO it is about looks, connections and success.

He loves Alia and Varun for the film families they belong to and actually took Sid because of his good looks and that even Sid comes from a rich family. I think he liked Sid genuinely over time because Sid is quiet , non controversial and very good looking. Even post the break up of Alia and Sid, he did not treat Sid like a pariah. Even in KWK, be genuinely told Sid that he would give him one if he doesn't invite him, i felt it was quite genuine on his behalf. He may not love the guy and will definitely drop him if the situation arises but i do think KJO genuinely likes him

I understand the desire of an Aspirant to feature in KJo's film. He will go all out if he's casting one of his personal favorites (SRK, Kajol, Alia, Ranbir). But if it isn't a favorite of his, remember Drive that Sushant & Jacqueline featured in? He was happy to pass it on to the OTT platform, while he'd have fought for any other film of his to be in the theatres.

I still don't understand why Aspirants expect KJo to even look at them, forget giving them the same opportunities or treatment as his blue-eyed boys/girls. The least you can get to, is become a Kiara or a DP in his movie, which was still nothing but a flowerpot role one ends up with to say the least. That too if they have lots of backing in the industry from known names.

With Male actors? I've barely seen anyone outside of the industry starring in KJo's movies as a lead, except Sid Malhotra & Fawad Khan that were known to be his muses at once. Vicky Kaushal was a tiny exception (more like an experiment for KJo when Vicky's stars were shining) but he's never gonna be a Ranbir from this gen or SRK from the previous gen for KJo.

Even YRF & SLB were willing to give the likes of Ranveer Singh chances in their movies, but not KJo. He might still budge for a female to star in a flowerpot role in his movie & then be forgotten.

That was a bit different. Drive was already known as a weaker script so obviously it was a big OTT contender. (Also to note in the industry Jaqueline is considered box office poison - not completely her fault but even her movie with Akshay Kumar did well on OTT and if released in theatres would do horrible)

The way Dharma works is that S's agent reached out and they sent out available dates. The unfortunate part was Sush was so desperate for work he said yes to Drive knowing it wasn't that great. The thing is it's better to be in the news for something than nothing at all, unless you are a top star.

That's why Dharma has these films - Vicky did a similar one in GNM. Sushant was desperate to come back. Also all his contemporaries have done at least one masala film (that was garbage) so it's not like he had a pattern of getting disastrous movies. Ayushmann eventually might start saying yes to similarly bad movies in an attempt to be relevant again.

I don't think Deepika was a flowerpot in Gehriyaan actually. For her acting skills she did great - the thing is that it wasn't in the avatar of what a top actress is 'expected' to do. I was more impressed with her in that than I have been with her since 2013/15. No award acknowledgment is weird from KJO/gang but Deepika doesn't need them.

Also KJO actually directs through the lens of what he thinks a woman would enjoy so that's part of the reason why actors/actresses want to work with him. For instance Tara vs Bilal was an outstanding film helmed by two outsiders. That's Dharma. Most outsiders get stuck in the trap of patriotic/action/terror movies. No romantic/comedy films. In normal Bollywood it would be a hit.

DCA has a few talented male actors who are actually being held back because of pandemic failures. Harshvardhan, Gurfateh...etc. All are out of the industry.

Also KJO's only true blue eyed girl is Alia. (and Suhana). The rest are there for connections and/or money.
