Honey Irani wrote DDLJ?

So I’m just scrolling through twitter and find this anecdote about a banter between Zoya Akhtar and Kareena years and years ago, at SRK’s house. They are talking about DDLJ and Zoya likes the movie but it didn’t make her want to run behind a train and doesn’t think that it’s the greatest love story ever. Kareena in return tells her that if she doesn’t believe DDLJ to be the greatest love story ever she will never become a filmmaker. Apparently things got heated after that and SRK had to mediate and tell them to calm down. So amusing anecdote with Kareena being Kareena basically. But then someone said this 😳

So the Deols weren’t the only family the Chopras have pissed off? Hmm

It’s not listed in IMDB but I don’t doubt she was an apart of it.

honey irani cowrote. i have seen many interviews. i think it was aditya chopras script which honey irani might have helped to polish as he was very young then, only 23 or something. his worldview and world knowledge might be limited.

she had written lamhe, aaina, parampara and darr for yash chopra

i am sure she contributed somewhat to ddlj and deserved credit

it did become a big controversy those days

DDLJ is a regressive story anyways......if I had written it....I would have never claimed it ...that also in 2023.....nope..😆

I think that’s the point of the tweet. That YRF hasn’t given her any credit including putting her name in the credits, presumably.

Did not know this at all. Do you remember what Honey Irani’s claim was? Was she claiming that it was her story? Or she just wanted co-writer credit?
