I think psychologically when we want to be extra careful not to give any vibe or message of being interested, we dress conservatively & boringly or in a way that’s least likely to attract attention. Katha must hv felt so unconfortable with what she had to do, she must hv subconsciously tried to dress conservative. In desi land, thats a full salwar suit with dupatta.
For example if I had to attend a business meeting with a man who had the reputation of being a flirt, I wld tend to avoid dressing attractively.
