New theory after todays episode
Meerab is Murtasim’s Chahat. He’s liked her since teenage. Supportive points:
- he exerts a lot of Haq on her for someone he believes is not part of the family. Examples include stopping her from going into her own house in Karachi, dragging her away from her birthday party, chasing her in the car, stopping her from leaving the house when she finds out her paternity
- statement of “meri sari pareshaniyan tum se judi hai”
- getting worried about her hand hurting
- refusing marriage because she is not happy
- asking her if she still hates him
- he is obviously attracted to her from the get go (tea in his room scene where he is checking her out and todays mesmerized stare)
- gets hyper worried when she goes missing at the Dargah
- bringing her parents over while disregarding his mother
- Haya saying M and her used to go and he used to buy her bangles until Meerab came in the scene. I think she’s talking about way before when they were younger. Maybe Meerab started visiting them more frequently when Waqas lived there as neighbors and Ms attention was starting to shift to Meerab
- why did he get so upset and angry when Haya told him she is illegitimate. Was he just upset at the situation or is he really so regressive that he will not marry someone without a family name?
It looks like this is not an arranged marriage for him
Could his suggestion to get Meerab married also have had ulterior motives? Like he was planting the seed so they could get on it and make it happen
Were all his refusals just a show? Feigning indifference and hatred to cover his true feelings
I can’t tell you why he says they made him sacrifice his Chahat. Maybe Ma begum found out teenage M liked Meerab and was against the alliance because she was not growing up to be a docile girl that she could control. Maybe Meerab was always spit fire. Maybe Ma begum orchestrated a situation where Waqas had to move away to Karachi in order to create distance and actively discourage the relationship. Because she didn’t know then that Meerab would have a huge inheritance or that Anwar would have a change of heart towards her? Maybe she always thought until that point that M would inherit Anwars property too. But when she realized Anwar wanted his daughter back and was planning to give her everything, she decided M and M needed to get married and brought up her late husband’s decision as the reason.
