Vijay’s final film Jana Nayagan finally gets a release date amid CBFC clearance delay

As speculation around the release of Jana Nayagan continues, fresh updates from ticketing platforms have once again sparked discussion among fans waiting for an official announcement. The Vijay starrer, which has been facing delays over certification issues, is now expected to hit theatres in June, although the makers are yet to confirm a date publicly.

According to ticketing platform District, the film is currently listed for a June 19 release. Another major platform, BookMyShow, has also updated its calendar and placed the film under June releases. While these listings have added to the buzz online, the production team has not issued any formal confirmation so far.

The delay appears to be linked to the pending certification process from the Central Board of Film Certification. Producer Venkat K Narayana recently addressed the situation while speaking to reporters after visiting a temple on Friday evening.

Initially avoiding questions about the film, he later confirmed that the makers are still waiting for the censor certificate. Speaking briefly to the media, he said, “This is not the place to talk about Jana Nayagan. I came for temple darshan. But as I told you, we’re waiting for the certificate to come. I am sure that they’re going to give it anytime soon. We’ll release it at the earliest.”

He further added, “The release date will be announced as soon as we get the censor certificate. We’ll announce it well in advance once the censor certificate is in our hands.”

Directed by H. Vinoth, the political action drama stars Vijay alongside Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj, Narain and Priyamani. Backed by KVN Productions, the film reportedly centres on an ordinary man’s rise against injustice, eventually transforming into a political voice for the people. Music for the film has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander, adding further anticipation among audiences awaiting the film’s theatrical release.
