mili -- haven't watched the episode yet (will do it in a while) but in regards to your question -- "But, what is Viaan's compulsion? Can he not remove the ONS from the table, and say, Katha, forget I spoke nonsense, here is the money as a loan/ in exchange for the night, but why does he have to do the deed in exchange?
"
here is my random thought: are you familiar with the term punch dialogues? you always have them in south indian masala movies and those lines can be hilarious.
"if I say it once, then I have said. even if I come (my conscience/spirit) and tell, I won't change my mind"
another punch -- "I am not one of those idiots who leaves the field midway. once I step in, I won't leave without winning"
both these punches from different movies highlight a hero who is so decisive that he won't back down even if there are negative consequences. he is relentless when it comes to attacking the villain and keeps at it even when tragedy strikes.
while I love those punches, I also thought was kind of dumb because you should be able to change your mind. however, that is the negative side of decisiveness.
I do think the reason viaan (as well as papaG) come across as confusing is because we are not used to seeing such decisive MLs 🤣
ITV is mostly filled with MLs who are easily manipulated. viaan isn't the ML stuck between two sisters or the one who gets married to someone because he doesn't want to hurt mama.
this isn't that type of ML -- viaan doesn't care about your feelings and will tear you down instead because he is so decisive. 😂
now in real life, decisive men are usually successful because they don't stop in the face of challenging circumstances. even if they are filled with doubt or confusion, they are always steaming ahead. now, that can also be a flaw because you have to know when to listen to your gut and maybe turn around. it is not silly to turn around is a huge lesson that decisive personalities need to learn -- can be difficult. that will be part of viaan's journey.
the other aspect of why viaan is not backing out is that there is no free lunch. one of my aunts always says this -- say your servant has borrowed money. it is not going to affect your house but you still ask for it back anyway to ensure they don't take advantage of you in the future. otherwise, they will think you are a doormat and start fleecing you. while that sounds like negative thinking, unfortunately, it does happen. so you have to be wise to know when to forgive a debt (or give without conditions) and when to make it clear that this isn't a free lunch. here, viaan hasn't learned that difference.
we have to remember that he does not know katha. she hasn't worked very long with this company (is it a month? 3 months?) and she is asking for a huge amount (50-100 times her salary). every woman who breaches boundaries has tried to take advantage of him (that co-worker). so he is trying to protect himself by closing this deal and ensure this is one time night. kind of absurd but chalo, lets roll with it. otherwise, where is the story eh? 😆
@bold......Mango ji, thank you for saying this👍🏼. And thank heavens, that we didn't have to see a manipulated ML. Even the family dog and neighbors are to be blamed for MLs actions before the ML is held accountable. Then there is a whole army of people (I am talking in the show ) who will defend the ML to get into his good books🤢
Yeah, aware of those punch lines😡, and they are so dumb👎🏼. Just playing for the masses, with absolutely no substance or common sense attached to them. If life were black and white, those punch lines work. To be a successful businessman or any other sphere of life, the punch lines are a huge hinderance🤡.
But, may be that is what they are showing him as, an immature, ruled by his belief/thought kind of a guy, however stupid that belief may be. He is a guy who is not into finding out in depth about an incident or a situation, but someone who runs with first impressions, may be😒 Jo dikhta hain wahi sach hain kind of a guy😵Boy, are we going to have fun shredding him?As the parallel with Amrita kind of elicits the same. He put his company at jeopardy rather than back off and give in to truth, common sense and the ground reality.🤢
@italics......... Agree with your aunt, and this is the ground reality too👍🏼. I have been bitten a few times, and the feeling that someone is taking advantage of you is truly humiliating😒
But, yahaan par toh, he is not just making Katha pay for the lunch, right? He is also paying for it. Useless business man🤡 This is what doesn't make sense. If he asked her to do sit ups all night long because he is pissed, that makes sense. But, he is agonizing that he also has to do the sit ups. That bridge waala whatever doesn't make sense too. Bhai, if you know and can clearly see that the bridge is hanging by a thread, it is not smart to ride with your Hummer on that bridge, just because............ You run back, take your damn foot back off the bridge, don't cry that the bridge collapsed into oblivion😡. He is in fact cutting his nose to spite his face.
Katha ka chodo, but apna kya?😭 What about his own integrity and conscience? How is he going to live with his conscience that he did it in exchange for money ? FOR WHAT? Because he is a nutcase and can't back off? And because he wants Katha to pay?
I am going to chalk it off as this ML is a stupid guy, a guy who has no worldly wisdom, lived in a bubble just with himself and his internal conversations. Baaki world se kuch lena-dena nahin hain to get to the bottom of a situation. He is the judge, jury and the executioner🤢 and it is all working because he is well padded🤢
Me thinks, he won't rather CAN'T go with it. The guy seems to be too stuck up to sacrifice his peace of mind.
Don't get me wrong. I am very intrigued, really want him to fall on his face and break his nose😈 Sadist hain hum😃 What a show to bring all of this up for great discussions👏 Thank you, makers👍🏼
