To maintain peace, raj may first agree for anmol to stay with her parents and they would have weekly visits. Mind you, raj does this because he does like the boy. There would be quarrels at home when he wants to accompany her and she might find times she is going alone. Of course, raj won’t forget to send gifts to him and would video call on his birthday. But what if when they do have kids? It would be ‘Anmol should consider his younger siblings.’ It may be ‘Can’t we just send money to mom and dad at Shimla? Yuvraj needs you here, too.’ Her in-laws will tell her that she should focus on their own blood and they don’t care for the one outside. Her parents may even be complicit, in order to not cause issues between rajmeet, and simplify cases that anmol may need parental attention. And again, his step-siblings would have things he wouldn’t have. Raj may never hate or dislike his stepson over time, because he is good really, he might just be micro aggressive that his wife doesn’t consider that his family is upset with him because she wants to run over to anmol’s side and so, she shouldn’t run over so frequently. They can just send money monthly. And manmeet’s fears are also realized this way, that her fears would come through in form of her - she would be complicit in this because of raj’s affections and over time may think like them too for the sake of the ‘younger children’. After all, anmol is only one of her four or five kids right? He is the eldest and should understand right? Does he want to hurt her marriage to this wonderful man? Sometimes, parents who change after remarriage doesn’t do so because they don’t love their kids. It may even be out of protection. But Manmeet understands this and recognizes that this is selfish because unlike her other kids, Anmol has no father or any other parent apart from her. There is no troublesome ex-husband or remarried partner even that she can call just incase he might help Anmol in a spurt of paternal love. There is no one but her. So I understand her reasons, and in a way, I can understand why she aimed to crush all raj’s feelings and foster hate. But I don’t think she realizes because of that, it would be harder for raj to just walk away without trying to hurt her back.As for the position, it is realistic because it shows how society today caters to those that have the money and power to make it cater to their whims. So, if raj or any person in his home wants to buy a company today, or destroy another, or become MD, it’s possible with their money. The only thing I want to see is a realistic reason for how this is possible, like that show has only maintained. It must make sense and I believe at the end of the episode, we would see the logic of raj actually being a beneficiary of nepotism. It happens, so why the disappointment? It’s only a reckoning of what is happening outside our Tv. I cannot wait for the office angsty romance lol.
Beautifully put. And this is why Manmeet was absolutely correct in her stand. Raj is not strong or mature enough and it shows.
