So...I was just 14 when it released. When the songs were first aired on TV, I liked them sure but I noticed the handsome newcomer in them, and something made me sure it was going to be a hit. It's gonna do well, I thought.

Little did I know the movie would give birth to an overnight sensation.

The movie is great time-pass and the songs are absolutely lovely, but what I noticed more than anything else is that the movie worked because of this young man, who was playing a double role. Not just any double role, but playing 2 characters completely opposite to each other. The innocent and heartbreaking sincerity of Rohit, and then the charming and suave Raj -- both nailed by a polished HR.

This is one of those rare occasions when a movie works completely because of the main star, who just shoulders the entire film with panache.

Sweet movie indeed, but I think most people remember it as Hrithik's debut more than anything else.

22 years on, I still remember the mass hysteria and everyone talking about him in our class VIII-A.

I was like : this is unusual, both boys and girls are crushing on him. And I told myself: We are witnessing a rare phenomenon.

I still can't get over that. Something in me will always be glad I was old enough to witness the birth of a star would continue to entertain us for years on end.

And today, the feeling hasn't left.

As much as I like Hrithik, but I didnt liked this movie a bit

very illogical

irritating

shallow

and seems choppy

Hrithik is the major reason to make it a Block buster else story was so irritating and utmost stupid/childish

The hype was unreal. I was left TRAUMATISED when Rohit died. I remember performing the Kaho Na Pyar Hai shimmey hook move with the bedroom door because there was a poster of HR taped to it. Imagine the sight my family members walked into when they opened the door and saw me doing this while facing them. 😆

Don’t you just love those random posters that creep into your house while you have no idea where and how it ever came about? Because same. It happened with my Arjun Rampal poster. I have no idea where it’s from but I bow down everyday and thank the lord for these small miracles. 😆
