No bias but facts. It is Madhuri who was senior and bigger name than Khans who were new. It is Madhuri's songs like Didi tera devar deewana, Mai ni mai which became more popular and her saree look which was copied by women then.

It is Madhuri who had big hits like Dil, Beta, Khalnayak behind her and used to overshadow male co stars also just as she stole thunder from Anil in Beta.

Salman was upcoming top young actor but not the senior with mass base like Madhuri. I am not saying he was a non star. Just said MD was bigger than him at that point.

You are talking as if Salman wasn't anything. MPK was Decade's Biggest HIT, a ATBB which had broken every record, made an equal collection as Sholay(whose record was unbroken at that time). This isn't done by just an upcoming star. Salman's craze was unmatchable.

Despite being Senior, Madhuri came in limelight with Tezaab being Smash Hit with Ek Do Teen song. After which she was given some importance in Tridev, putting her ahead of bijlani & sonam.

Madhuri's PR might have worked very well proving her to be bigger than Male leads, but she wasn't that bigger.
