Priya enters the room hurriedly, and stops seeing Brinda pace up and down. Seeing Priya , Brinda immediately comes towards and brandishes the DNA report in front of her. Seeing Priya’s shocked face, Brinda says “Pihu is Ram’s daughter, you knew right? Priya, Answer me. How could you do this to Ram? Keep his daughter away from him for 5 years. How could you be so selfish Priya. I heard your conversation with Ishan in front of the police station. Just because you knew Ram won’t accept you in this house, you kept his daughter away from him. How could you carelessly disregard Ram’s love, Priya. You were willing to hide this secret from him forever. Do you know how much pain Ram underwent these last 5 years? Did you even love him at any moment? How could you be so heartless Priya? If not for Ram, think about Pihu. What would she think about all this? I mean…..”
Tired with the day’s emotional turmoil and hearing the vile words coming out of Brinda’s mouth, Priya’s emotional capacity was over. She could no longer control her frustrations and shouts “SHUT UP BRINDA. JUST SHUT UP.” Brinda stops seeing Priya’s tortured expression. Priya takes a deep breath to control herself, but all the day’s words, all the negative questions has driven Priya to her limits. Her breath hitches and she knows somewhere, she is on the verge of a mental breakdown. Brinda is surprised, seeing Priya’s struggle to control her emotions. Priya always appears as the stronger part of Ram-Priya. No matter what, Priya never gets flustered. Here, she can clearly see the struggle and finally the resolution on her face. Priya said in a steely voice “You want to know the truth right. You think you have the courage to confront the truth. Fine, I will tell you the truth. Because the truth is you, Adi, Kunal, Vikram, Sandy, Sara Di and Ma are all responsible for what I, Pihu and Mr Kapoor are facing today.” She makes Brinda go inside the room and shut the door. She turns and tells Brinda in a stern voice “Sit.”
Brinda quietly sits down, knowing that there is no way to argue with Priya now. Priya sits down and arranges herself in a pose that reminds Brinda of a queen taking her place. Whatever words will come out today, will remain imprinted in Brinda’s mind forever. Priya then looks at Brinda directly and says “Your first question. How could I keep Pihu from Mr Kapoor? Then here is your answer Brinda. Because if Pihu was not away from Mr Kapoor, then I would have been searching for her in every orphanage. She would not have grown up as Ms Pihu Ram Kapoor-Sood, but as an unknown child with no identity, no parents and no idea of what a mother and father is. Do you know why she would grow up like that? Because Mrs Nandini Kapoor, would make sure that she would grow up like that. That day, when I called the Kapoor mansion, Mrs Kapoor picked up the phone first and heard the news. And that was our biggest mistake. I promised her that if any harm comes to her family, I will accept whatever consequences she gives me. She told me that as a consequence for Shivina’s death, I was to lie to Mr Kapoor about the pregnancy, make him hate him and never let Pihu meet him. If that did not happen, then she would ensure that Pihu will grow up in an orphanage, out of our reach forever.”
Seeing Brinda’s silent tears now rolling down her face, Priya looks at her with dead eyes and says “Am I heartless to keep Pihu away from her father? If it keeps her safe from the likes of Mrs Nandini Kapoor and Vedika, then yes I am heartless. What would Pihu think? I don’t know what she will think. But I hope she will understand when she grows up. But now, she is at an age where she learns about everyone around her. And I want her to learn to love like Mr Kapoor. Not manipulate like Mrs Nandini Kapoor.”
Brinda opens her mouth, but Priya keeps her hand up to stop her from talking. She replies “First let me answer all of your questions. Do I love Mr Kapoor? He is in my every breath. I lived every moment with him, through Pihu. Whenever I see Pihu, I always remember that a part of him is with me. That part is enough for me, to spend my entire life with. But the better question is, Do I trust Mr Kapoor? Then my answer is no. The person who comes to reunite with his ex wife just for a deal, who calls me a liar, and the next moment asks for all 3 of us to become a family, no I cannot trust that person. But my main reason for not trusting Mr Kapoor, because I always know one thing for sure, that it doesn’t matter how much evidence I bring in front of him. When it comes down to choosing between Mrs Kapoor and Pihu, he will always choose Mrs Kapoor. If at any moment, he chooses Pihu over her, then Mrs Nandini Kapoor will leave no stone unturned to make Pihu's life unbearable. And I cannot afford that ever. 5 years ago, Mrs Nandini Kapoor made me choose between Mr Kapoor and Pihu, my innocent baby who had not even come to this earth yet. I chose Pihu. Today, Pihu is still my innocent baby and Mrs Kapoor made me choose between Pihu and Mr Kapoor. I am choosing Pihu today again and will continue to do so.”
Finally meeting Brinda’s eyes with fiery eyes of her own, Priya says “I have been for only a short while in Mr Kapoor’s life, yet I faced so much? Why Brinda? Yes, I am asking this question to you, your husband and Mr Kapoor’s 2 friends. The cost of everyone’s silence including my families was that all 3 of us had lost our peace of mind. Why did none of you think for even a second to go and inform Mr Kapoor, that look this is the way his family is? Because of your silence, Mrs Nandini Kapoor, Shubham and Vedika are so courageous that they were willing to use the police to frame me again and spoil my image in front of Pihu. Why did none of you ever confront their behavior in these past 5 years? Tell Mr Kapoor, that they are just using him, nothing else. Why did you all think that there was no right to interfere on your part? Did you know Kanika is Vedika’s friend? Both of them put oil on the staircase to make sure Maitri falls down. They were willing to endanger an unborn child’s life just to reach their goals. 5 years ago, this was also the aim of Mrs Kapoor, that I understood from today’s conversation with her. She never banished me from Mr Kapoor’s life because of Shivi. She banished me because she wanted Mr Kapoor’s property entirely in her and Shubham’s name. And she was willing to sacrifice Shivina for that. But do you have the courage to go and say this to Mr Kapoor Brinda? I am his ex wife, so Mr Kapoor will never believe me. But you are his lifelong friend. Do you have the courage to risk your friendship to bring Mrs Nandini Kapoor’s truth to Mr Kapoor?”
Taking Brinda’s silence as an answer, Priya gets up and begins to move out of the room. Turning back, Priya looks at Brinda’s slumped posture, she says “Brinda, every girl looks not just for trust in their life partner, but also the surety that their life partner can prioritize them, when it is needed. Mr Kapoor loved me, no doubt but he will always prioritize his family over me. And I cannot sacrifice Pihu for this priority, when his family consists of people like Mrs Nandini Kapoor. I am sorry Brinda, but this truth can never come in front of Mr Kapoor, for Pihu safety and for Mr Kapoor sake. I am sorry.” And she leaves, Brinda staring after her. As soon as Priya is clear of her sight, she immediately stands up and rushes to the other room. Opening the door hurriedly, she stares at the horrific scene, and Ram right in the middle of it staring at his bloodied hand, a tortured expression on his face.
