u know
that is a tough question..
i read as much as i could-jkr's quotes,hp lexicon ,wikipedia etc
all i can understand is snape was in slytherin coz he was cunning(a prerequisite for being a slytherin),he was interested in dark arts, his mother was a slytherin and most importantly he was a slytherin coz he wanted 2 b one...remember in train while gng 2 hogwarts for the 1st time,he told lily that he wanted 2 b in that house...
and we know that one's wishes are considered during sorting...

Snape was a Slytherin because

1. of his inner qualities. he was cunning, loved dark magic, kinda sneaky

2. his mother was a Slytherin

3. he wanted to be in Slytherin. if you can remember Dumbledore said once that its your choise what you want to be.(HP2)

as for the half-blood part

Voldy himself was a half-blood. it was mentioned by Hermione (cant remember which book) that there are many half-bloods in Slytherin who pretends to be pure-blood. Snape was one of them.

hope that answers your question 😊

if you still have question ask 😛

bein in slytherin dusnt mean u gotta b pure-blood or u gotta b related 2 voldemort or ne of his relatives
slytherin used 2 choose students by deir power 2 follow deir ambition(as far as i remember)
n i guess sortin hat saw dat in snape n put him dere
but persoanlly i htnk snape had a attraction 4 dark arts frm his young age
i mena b4 he joind hogwarts
cuz u c he used 2 tell lily abt all dose htngs like azkaban, demetors n all instead of normal thngs in wizarding world
i guess dis was also sumthn dat put him in slytherin
😳

snape was rotten and had all the makings of a death-eater...
however, his insides had a special ability, tat is to love wholeheartedly
his love for lily overcomed his desire to revenge the dark lord of thr reason he was thwarted
i think tat's d reason 😳
