My grandparents on both sides were fluent in English before 1947. It was taught in English speaking schools they studied in. People from Indian subcontinent knew English as this language was the language of government. Earlier it was Persian and Urdu, before english.

For all those arguing Disney made Ms Marvel for brown Americans, let me assure you Disney does everything for profit. They are not doing this only for diversity. Desi Americans are too few to matter in the market. I know we all think we're Very Important People, but the numbers are not just there.

Or Disney thought somehow that mentions of Bollywood and SRK would also appeal to the tech bro type who mainly watch superhero genre.

If they are catering to Indian likes, it's because they want dollars from it, which mean the 1.2 billion Indians, not the 4 million desi Americans. As for why Pakistani superhero, Disney types think all South Asians are the same and they think the woke silliness works everywhere.

I am talking about mcu. In comics almost every hero is associated with every possible team lol

Benedict himself also explained strange was never an avenger and also in the MoM he says to america chavez that he is going to use an avenger. So basically he considers himself different from them maybe even superior at some point as he mentioned to tony that he protects their reality itself.

But are they stupid....sorry, illiterate......I mean, brain-dead enough to think that Indians and Pakistanis are the same? Don't think so.

Also, they did this mainly to get raving reviews from woke critics on 'diversity', which they were successful in getting. Audience outside of the US doesn't mean zilch as far as Ms. Marvel is concerned.

They of the Mickey Mouse Protection Act did not this only for the reviews and kudos from the tiny sliver of United States that are the desis.

And yeah, just like woke people are surprised that a made-up term like Latinx is not going down well with actual Hispanic people, some woke creative types are just dumb enough to imagine Indians in India will be perfectly happy with a Pakistani super hero. To the woke white person, brown people are one large group, with only grievance against white people as their peeve. Otherwise, we are all filled with goodness and cheer, tending cattle and living in harmony.

Bold: Woke white critics are hardly a sliver, though. 😆

So it was not done for Indian Market...

According to Wiki they wanted to

"Explore the Muslim-American diaspora from an authentic perspective".

So Wilson created a character called Kamala Khan who was named after the nurse who delivered her...

EDIT: I found out that her friend Nakia was named after the nurse who delivered her, not Kamala

I don't think so though, Indian and Pak lobbies exist abroad as well. But second or third-gen Indians may like Ms Marvel since they're more 'brown Americans' than anything else.

not just indian -pak, there is telugu, tamil, marathi ..... associations everywhere

people mingle socially but they will of course carry connections from where they came from

i have been to even iit associations etc
