Dal chawal is a generic term. It has variations depending upon the state you live in or the influences you have had. Even in my house, if you give us dal, each of us would make a different version of it. The one you are referring to also falls in the dal chawal category. 😆

Compared to Rajma it is. Dal tu ek kilo leke ayega jiyada chalti hain, compared to ek kilo of Rajma. Rajma banana mai extra costs lagta hain, dal doesn't take that much effort nor it requires more time for preparation.
