I don't think it is offensive. I think he probably meant to say in the context, that people say ghar ki murgi dal barabaar, so he made it like Alia is a tadka wala daal and not pheeka. Meaning his marriage life isn't pheka or bland.

And for why people in the forum not finding it offensive, well it is just situation, change the name from Ranbir to Ranveer, and then there would different tones from different members, you will see 360 turns from offended and not offended sides 😆

not only rajma, you can eat chawal with any curry, veg or non veg, sambar, dahi,….and it tastes good with only achar and ghee. I don’t understand why “dal chawal “ is so famous?

Its easily available, cheap, you don't have to put too much time and effort to prepare it and you can have as many servings as you want. /s

Dal sasti aur more kaam paise mai ziyada nutritious hoti hain naa compared to others in long run. Hence daal chawal. Ab Rajma Chawal log haar din nahi kha sakte, haar din ghee aur chawal nahi khaya jaiga sukhi sukhi. Sambar is South Indian(it is bloody delicious though, when well made, and sugar isn't added) mostly. Sirf curry ke saath bhi kaam khaya jata hain, aur long run for a lower middle class family will be expensive. Hence the dal chawal probably.

Dal is popular all over India. Every state have their own version but base is same.
Rajma is popular mostly in Punjab. Gujarat mein aake puchh lo toh 70% would say no for Rajma. Regularly banate bhi nai Ghar mein. Same for Sambar. We either it outside in the restaurant with Dosa or occasionally make it at home.
Dal is like everyday thing. You can’t do wrong with it.
