There is just so much hidden passive aggressive in their family dynamics that comes across through their interactions and interviews …😂
Shweta clearly feels ab is treated like the golden child and she gets ignored and constantly scrutinised by her mom (Monica chandler geller dynamic)
Jaya thinks too high of her son and of ab snr but also hates being on the sidelines and being taken for granted by the men in her fam
Aishwarya comes across as someone who really really tries to downplay her success and really tries to make her marriage work …aradhya seems to be her topmost priority atm (which is fair ) and she just wants to avoid all the family drama for her sake …
Ab junior is that kid who got candies everytime he did anything right, and was expected to sweep the nation and become the next superstar, but didn’t… so any success is overplayed and hyperbolized …he also feels the need to pull down shweta (kwk episode) and project himself as the breadwinner of the family …
Ab snr is the patriarch who gets away with everything coz he’s “bacchan Saab” and he’s the legend….he does seem to dote on shweta tho
Typical desi family can’t get more typical than this …they might as well make a dil dhadakne do part 2 with them
Aishwarya doting on Aaradhya makes sense, as Aara is literally still a child. Abhishek is almost a 50 year old grown man, so to see his 80 year old father go gaga like this is a bit embarrassing to me.

yes, I've noticed this too and find it incredibly stifling and problematic... and toxic.
I always cringe at how Ash downplays herself to prop her husband up when they're together or when he's brought up in a convo. The most cringe "interview" of theirs was this one for me ... they're in London to promote Ravan...I think. 😵
somewhere in there, the lady asks him, "Did you feed chapati to Aishwarya everyday .. blah blah?"
He says smugly, "No, SHE fed me Chapatis" ... cuz you know, he's the man of the house and all.
and then she goes on to crack a sexual joke to "save" the situation but it nearly makes me throw up...
If second hand embarrassment could kill, I woulda been dead by now!

The biggest problem in this interview was the interviewer. She sucked. She didn’t know how to engage them and her questions weren’t flowing naturally. What the hell kind of question is did you feed your wife chapatis? That’s a stupid question at best and a stereotypical and racist question at worst. Abhishek and Aishwarya were awkward as well but not with each other. I think they just didn’t know how to react to her stupid questions. I think had it been in India one of them would have told the interviewer to knock it off.

I have to agree... I just rewatched it and she was stupid and created a level of awkwardness with her questions when it could have been easily avoided with simple questions.
That said, I have noticed a concerted effort by the entire Bachan clan to pass him off as the "breadwinner" in multiple instances. Almost like they're all trying to make him feel better about himself. So when I come across interviews like this, I immediately pick up those vibes.
Honestly I have always kinda felt bad for Abhishek. Being under the shadow of a super successful father and constantly compared to him at everything he does must have been a hard blow to his self confidence, being married to a gorgeous wife who is also more successful than him might not have helped either, I mean surrounded by successful family members when you are barely even moderately successful tends to bring one's morale down more than people realise, and I also feel that Aishwarya herself might have taken a step back for this very reason and invested herself more in her family and daughter, I could be wrong though.Originally posted by: SmittenKitten

It’s tricky but I always thought ab jnr was more enamoured by the idea of being an actor and achieving fame, rather than the job itself
I’ve never seen him go above and beyond (except maybe guru where he gained weight)…it almost looks like he puts in bare minimum effort with acting, dancing , looks, physique , fitness , stunts …all aspects really
His competitors and ppl who came afterwards like hrithik , ranveer, shahid , ranbir, srk, farhan, worked themselves to the bone and literally killed themselves to achieve a certain physique, perfect a dance number, perfect some bits of action choreography etc
Him and sonam lack that fire imo…they love being admired and praised but I don’t think they have it in them to do all the “not so comfortable” bits of their job

SRK was there way before AB Jr. Nor were they competitors. Shah Rukh was already established as a superstar by the time AB Jr debuted.

I sometimes do wonder if Ash just became super reclusive cuz of the toxic Bachchan family dynamics and Abhishek's ego trips too. Below is a video that highlights all the moments where Abhishek can't even be bothered to pretend to smile or stand next to her to make public and red carpet appearances. I found that quite disconcerting cuz I can deal with everything but an insecure man who throws public tantrums just because she commands more attention! 😵 Kudos to her for smiling through it all to save the situation though.
