Narmada's reaction.....Not surprised

I might be among the few who will not be surprised if the precap is not a dream and Narmada did slap Imlie as an impulsive reaction. Not trying to justify her and I am not at all happy with the slap part. Because, an abuse is an abuse - be it physical or emotional and sometimes emotional abuse has a long lasting impact on a person than physical abuse.

Now coming back to Narmada, I have been expecting such a situation (not a slap, but some cold reaction) since long. Her extra sweetness in the previous 2 occasions when Imlie had put Aryan & the Rathores through public humiliation, was really indigestible to me - first on marriage day when she left the mandap and second on reception day with her Jhadu antics. It made me feel like Narmada was unnecessarily made into a mahan then. Because, that's is not how a parent behave at such insults in real life. Only we knew about the inner dynamics of Arylie then and why Imlie behaved so; but Narmada didn't. So, when in both these occasions, Narmada was shown to be more in support of Imlie and that CVs didn't use BM to instigate her then, I was like daal mein kuch kaala hain. Since then, I was expecting Narmada to turn against Imlie any time, especially with BM still around. And this time, she has a valid reason to go against Imlie. She had warned Imlie not to step out of the house especially since she was just out of danger after the fire incident. So, to her it is Imlie's zidd that has costed her her son's life this time. Hence, It's quite natural that, any mother who has her share of fears & insecurities after loosing two of her family members, will fall prey to BM's/Jyo's manipulative deeds. Especially when Imlie didn't disclose to her that she was going out to search for donors. CVs could have avoided the slap; instead they could have shown Narmada stopping Imlie from meeting Aryan or something of that sort. That would have been a realistic reaction. Now, I don't know how the CVs will get back Narmada accepted to the audience, after making her stoop lower than Aparna (if at all the precap is not anyone's dream).

Having said that, Narmada is not an evil saas like in all ITV shows. She is like an ink paper who absorbs whatever color thrown on her. If Arpita/Imlie fills her with bright colours, she will shine brightly. If BM/Jyo throws dark colours on her, she will come up with a dark shade. At the core, she is a nice person who is not aware of the black shades of this world and why she brought up her kids in the same way. Till Aravind's death, Aryan was this softly-spoken, witty carefree guy; but he couldn't manage his grief when his world turned upside down and had to seek the path of revenge to subside his pain. One reason is the way Narmada had brought him up. Same is the reason, why it took 4long years for Arpita to overcome her trauma. Because Narmada who herself had turned a blind eye to the harsh realities of life hadn't prepared her kids to face the same. For a mother like Narmada, as long as she can see happiness on her kids faces nothing in this world bothers her. Even if you say the sky is falling down, she will be cool as cucumber if her kids are happy. But the moment her happy environment is disrupted, she becomes a completely different person whose overprotective mode turns on. And that is what makes her behave irrationally.

I am not going to write off Narmada that soon. Because, these 3 incidents from the past is enough for me to give her time to come back to her senses.

Narmada feeling sad and praying for Imlie after Malini PF.

I have a soft corner for Narmada over Aparna because, unlike Aparna who prioritised her status and reputation over Imlie and threw lots of insults at her, Narmada never made Sundar or Imlie's class difference or even Imlie's divorcee status an issue. Moreover, even when she is a widow, she has never been insecure of her position in her kids lives, which is a major problem in real life situations. To her, if her kids are happy and alive, that's more than enough for her. That's the only flaw and weakness which can be used against her & her family.

I completely understand narmada's reaction.TBH, even after aryan getting shot she would have been completely fine with imlie that would have been unrealistic. But I can never and will ever be fine with narmada slapping Imlie. After tripathis gone, I was actually expecting narmada to turn against arylie bcz it is needed for conflict bcz Aryan doesn't care about anyone except narmada, arpita and imlie. But making narmada slap imlie is worst cvs could do. It is disappointing to say the least bcz her one slap erases all the selfless love she showed towards Imlie and I don't think anyone is ready for that.

Best would be if narmada gives cold shoulder to imlie but not hitting her. That is just so low .

Anyway Imlie is doing well.on trp charts they don't need to resort to such gimmicks for trps.

I haven't seen the episode yet but I agree with you; just to give a different perspective -- people may think what is the big deal that imlie didn't properly inform the other members that she was out looking for blood donors. well, that is how arguments get started in stressful situations.

when it comes to hospitalization of a loved one, people are always stressed. many are not quite rational and not really thinking things through. so in such a situation, it is vital that every member of the family know what the other is up to and where one is on the treatment plan.

otherwise, yes, such chaos occurs --- it adds to the stress and feeling of abandonment when someone who should be there isn't. now, one has no way of knowing or guessing what is going on and so people react out of temper.

I have seen many such arguments arise in hospital settings among my extended family because of such miscommunication and tension during hospitalization. someone stepped out for lunch and no one knew what the other was up to -- next thing you know the family members are having loud arguments in the hospital hallway about responsibility or lack thereof. it still is a sore issue years later.

so yea, too much gyan or lack of proper communication can cause tensions to erupt rather dramatically.

especially when it comes to treatment plans and finding things like a blood donor, it should always be a co-ordinated effort so that there is less chaos and everyone is able to walk together through the crisis.

I too totally condemn the slap part. But I will take it with a pinch of salt, as CVs way to garner the attention of TRP audience who enjoys such OTT dramas. 😊

Exactly.... That's how it happens in a real situation and if she had acted as an understanding mother who was fine with her DIL going out without sharing the reason, especially when her son is fighting for his life, I would have really pulled my hair. Because, a parent will never behave rationally when they see their kid in NDE situation. And in this case, Imlie was triggering her fears for a second time in the same day.

Let’s not write Narmada off just as yet. She’s always shown as being supportive of Imlie doubting even her own son. As for the slap, this is ITV, maybe it’s a case of Imlie going hysterical worrying for Aryans health or something and Narmada slaps her to snap her out of it??

thats why I don't have any reaction either way; I have seen way too much real life drama in hospital hallways as well as heard of lots of drama. (lots of sick relatives 😟) people are not quite sane in many such crisis. and especially when it comes to co-ordination, it really needs to be done responsibily. it causes incredible stress when people don't tell each other that they are also looking for blood donors or oxygen cylinders or room etc etc . instead, best is when people all get in the same group chat and say who they are talking to.

also, it causes confusion and stress from the hospital side as well. as his wife, she would be the one signing off on any proceedure. however, if she is not there, then they have to get consent signature from another family member. however, if the chain of command is not clear, then you have random family members pulling rank with hospital staff and creating chaos as well.

so in such situations, it is really important that one or two family members take charge and co-ordinate and keep everyone informed. this way, chaos is controlled and people are less stressed because they all know what is going on. now, imlie is inexperienced but she is also a lone shooter. she does not know how to do teamwork which is a real problem. so yea, this is a hard lesson for her to mature and learn in a way. 🤷
