Pakistani platter Kalyug, HMV Saregama WANT a feel of Pakistani pop? Buy a Bhatt soundtrack. The only Bhatt favourite missing from Kalyug (Mukesh Bhatt's latest release) is former Junoon lead singer Ali Azmat. The line-up includes a new entry from Pakistan—Nazam Sheraz, Nusrat's nephew Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, old flame Atif Aslam, who swept the charts with a single (Woh Lamhe in Zeher) and Jal, the band that later claimed the single was theirs, creating enough hype just before the film released. Sheraz' vocals and track—Ye Pal—are completely uninspiring, and you realise that Kalyug hasn't been able to do what Paap did for Pakistani music. And that isn't because we've had a Pak pop OD, but only because the selection of songs is rather unappealing. |
