Off late in terms of actress’s I see a lot of support for women like sai pallavi, Rashmika, Samantha, keerthi suresh which is heartening

These are actresses who are unconventional in some way or the other …sai pallavi is conservative and not exactly glam…same with keerthi suresh ….Sam and Rashmika are glamorous but both went through high profile relationship breakups and were trolled for them …none of them are what u call fair skinned …

But I see all of them getting lots of opportunities regardless of their “willingness to expose” or their relationship status/ age …..they all get offered a wide variety of roles and aren’t typecast which is so nice to see ..,ofcourse u give them credit too …but I think the way the industry treated them over the years is also more encouraging for girls to join this profession

Yes this is very common in industry. They make a faltu movie showing huge budget and then huge lose to escape income tax. If you notice it is a pattern in the industry.

And are we comparing on big budget films in this article? And what about small budget films like DJ tillu which is a hit which came after pushpa and before RRR ?

I believe it is a case of money laundering, they increase the budget on paper so they can show the loss...I am not saying that they did it here but its a popular theory

OP - There's no formula for a hit, not all movies are blockbuster that's why most actors have a hit ratio below 60%...Its easier to make a critically acclaimed good movie than a successful mass masala and none claimed that all movies are blockbusters down South

If I am not wrong, KGF 2 is semi hit in Telugu, Average in Kannada, Blockbuster in Hindi and hit in Tamil and Malyalam...Same goes for RRR, It wasn't a blockbuster everywhere

Not every movie does well, but inflating budget costs of movies as a means to pay less tax are very common, ask any tax consultant.

This is quite common in the global film industry across languages even films backed by corporates.

Not saying that for 100 percent but

Acharya was produced by Ram Charan, so you cannot ignore this factor. Chiranjeevi in his hey days was very well known to have done this.

Telugu actors need to up their PR game. Clearly their current PR is not doing anything good for them as everyone's slowly realizing Pushpa or RRR worked as a film and not for the so called 'Pan India' superstars like Prabhas, etc who have been giving flops.

They are clearly there because that's who the audience seems to prefer for those movies.

as for jayaprada and sridevi, werent they lighter skinned too? Sarika (who was married to kamal hasan), asin.... they are probably all a bit on the lighter side too.

Sarika is a Gujrati not a South Indian.

@ bold do you by any chance believe all South Indians are dark skinned? If you do then you are mistaken like any other part of the world even South India has mix of people of all colours so it's not shocking to find fair skinned South Indian.

The main reason for Telugu industry to not have natives in female lead is coz it is still looked down upon to be a female actor in the Telugu states. And the ones willing to enter are very few in numbers and they cannot do all the movies, hence the industry looks elsewhere. Few years ago it was mostly models from Mumbai who were hired but now its mostly the women from other south states that are picked.

This is news to me 😳😆

Did same happened for Radhe Shyam because it is produced by UV productions and is Prabhas's maiden productions

Only Acharya and Radhe Shyam are flops even after making 100 cr because of its huge budget.

This is common with Chiranjeevi, from his youth days if he makes one huge success, the next is a flop and there was also talk that he did that for tax reasons.

In that sense keeping budget and returns even Gangubai should be a flop

In fact Pushpa has not done well in both Telangana and AP, it is a success because of its huge business in north

Bheemla Nayak and Bangaraju have broken even and no loss for distributors just that they expected these movies to do a lot more.

In that case I have new found respect for the audience there.
