But are we really going to just dismiss the fact that Aryan patronised her in the beginning by saying “you finally look my equal” and “now you look like my wife”. I couldn’t believe my ears there for a moment. The Aryan who recognised and valued Imlie for the person she truly is, the values that make her, and not what she looked like, made such a superficial comment about her appearance (even if it’s just to hide his true feelings). I ask every woman here to think again. If your husband saw you in your dressed up form and told you that you finally look his equal, how would you truly feel about yourself? Now, imagine someone mentally weaker than Imlie in that situation. What impact would it make on their self-esteem? I can’t find it in me to blame Imlie for not having it and setting out to make a point right then and there because walking into a place full of people more esteemed and accomplished than yourself, and standing up for yourself takes mammoth strength. We, as the audience with a bird’s eye view of things, are aware that Aryan does not genuinely intent to insult/offend Imlie. But we also need to be objective enough to not minimise or make excuses for his behaviour and/or choice of words whenever and wherever they are clearly wrong.
Also, seeking payback for something someone did is one thing, and framing someone for something they did not do is a whole other thing. I’m all for Aryan wanting Aditya to pay for something he did in fact do. But Aryan wilfully framing Aditya for something he knows full well that he did not do, is not only morally wrong, but also reflects poorly on Aryan’s integrity.
Exactly , Aryaan's whole characterization is slowly going for a toss since the bad weather report thing. I am still blaming the head injury he sustained from the tree falling for it. Period.
But on another note, writer's a willy nilly adding stuff and making characters say them just to spoon-feed some other character's mahanta. Like a few episodes back Satyakaam came in for 2 winks of a scene and said " Aditya ki neeyat kharab thi" and vanished trying to show that Aryaan is way better (He is better but show by action not be cheatsheet dialogue) Aryan hallucinated Imlie either getting an award or Imlie always begging as Tripathi bahu and decided best way to protect her was forcing her to marry him? Really? Now you are my wife ..what is this dialogue just to justify imlie's bringing mop to a party n then saying basically Naukrani is my pehchaan because I cannot afford the dress myself? n ppl clapping this behavior. In which world was this respectful to the cleaning staff , house helps and other such people. especially since, imlie is not really a domestic help at all. She is still an intern and college student. Jhola aur kalam/notepad leke hi aa jaati yaar!. This is like appropriating someone's career like in west some fools appropriate someone's culture.
I hear what you’re saying, and you’re absolutely right about the distastefulness of appropriation. I might have perceived this situation that way as well, were it not for the scene between Aparna and Imlie. When Aparna asked Imlie why she’s doing this when she is not a naukrani, Imlie replies that while she is not one now, she was one for a period of time in her life. This is a fact, therefore negating appropriation. Though, I do think the pehchaan dialogue (both of them) was ill-conceived.Originally posted by: Wanderbug

This is the worst episode in the history of Imlie. Can’t understand what is cooking on the makers’ head. Today Imlie crossed all the limits in the name of Imliepanti. Neither Aryan not the Rathores deserve this embarrassment.
So true! I remember being this update about her actions or rather the maker's actions last when the fire incident with Arpi happened. Like what is wrong with them

Regarding her “accessories”, I believe the intention behind bringing them, was to grab maximum attention through shock value and make the strongest impression possible in the quickest time. Had she turned up wearing the velvet outfit, her point would have been perceived as tone deaf. Had she turned up wearing just her regular clothing, her point might still have been heard, but left no enduring impact. She made sure that people saw her, heard her, and remembered her. Isn’t that the mark of any successful movement? 🙂
Now thats a perspective I can partially still find acceptable.. 😳
