We all know my first point - it was progressive because it advocated for widows against those century-old bigoted and stupid views but that's just the surface. It's progressive for their relationship.

There was a tear on Imlie's cheek when she watched Narmada and Arpita get shunned from the rituals. People in attendance (Meethi, Rupi, etc.) felt bad for the two, felt sympathy but it was Imlie who felt empathy. You could see it affect her personally as if it wasn't Narmada and Arpita who were targetted, but Imlie. Like Aru, her eyes were filled with rage towards Blue Aunty.

In the past, we've seen Narmada stand behind Imlie like a pillar of strength, even opposing Aru (when she believed he forced Imlie for marriage) and Arpita retort Imlie's haters (Mrs. Chautervedi at the New Years Party), but today the tables turned. It was Imlie who fought for them and convinced them, even when Aru could not. Likewise, it was Aryan's tear that fell on Imlie's hand and broke her heart. Before the tear fell, you could see Imlie clenching her fist, trying to restrain herself but when it fell and she saw how much pain he was in, she raised hell.

It was also progressive because we saw Imlie's feelings for Aditya fade and Aru rise. When Aditya applied Haldi to Malini, Imlie could barely watch because she was still in love with him. Today, she barely showed a reaction after the initial shock of him attending the event. Her face was sombre and still. She gave a bigger reaction to Aunty Blue (loved seeing Meethi try to stop Imlie from attacking, so cute). Moreover, that kiss pose had those two in their own world, in so much peace. The intimacy in that scene and their shared comfort spoke volumes for the trust she has. They lost themselves in that trance that they had to be broken out of by Arpita and like. It shows that the feelings are mutual.

But also Aru, Imlie's trumping you as my favourite this week so upp your game lol

So on point.. Loved this episode. There was angst but the romance element balanced it out.

I love how wholesome today’s episode is. Starting with the subtle manifestation of Imlie’s growing feelings for Aryan (Sumbul’s subtle expressions, my my my) . What a simple, yet breathtaking sight it was to behold. Gosh, how beautiful does love look on both of them. ❤️ The way my heart ached so much for Narmada aunty and Arpi didi. How could anyone ever have the heart to hurt these beautiful humans. Despite herself not having the will to participate in the rasam and having the opportunity to wreck it, Imlie choosing instead to be her precious self, taking a stand for them and even Aru, was very heartwarming. I was just starting to wipe my tears off when Aru said “aap Imlie ki jijaji lagte hai” to Aditya, and it made me chuckle so fast. 😂 I had a nice time with this one.

PS. Who in the world gets people to pose like in Titanic for their wedding pictures. 🤦🏽‍♀️🤣🤷🏽‍♀️

bigger question -- who does couple poses in front of your loved ones and elders? won't people die of embarassment? isn't that why couples are taken away to a separate room to pose so that friends and cousins don't heckle and tease? 😂

Bruh my sisters wedding photographer did and I DID dye of embarrassment. It was in a temple and everything. Worst 5 minutes of my life. Anyways, moving on.

So your post reminded me of this old 80s Tamil movie called 'sakala samanthi' which touches on the topic of widow re-marriage. The movie is basically about how this uncle (whose daughter married into the family) gets the sister (of the groom who was widowed) re-married. There is a scene in the beginning where the uncle asks the sister to bless his daughter. She didn't even come to the wedding. She refuses saying that she is widowed and cannot bless. He responds that he too is a widower and he was the first to bless his daughter, so why not her? Again, she hesitates saying that she is unlucky and her blessing won't stick. He laughs and asks her who blessed her first when she got married? She responds her father did. He then says well your father's blessing didn't stick either and he is married. He tells her that it just nonsense and that people who truly bless from the heart are those who have suffered. Those who are doing well don't bless necessarily because they are worried and jealous. 😂 Again, he asks her to come bless his daughter and she is unable to say no.

While I haven't seen the episode yet, I was reminded of that scene in the movie where the uncle says that those who have suffered are the ones who truly wish another happiness. In that sense, both Arpita and Narmada have faced losses. So they do wish the best for Aryan and a 1000% times happiness. By Imlie taking the step to get their blessing, she is in some ways indicating that a blessing from women who are survivors makes another woman stronger. We are borrowing each other's strength through our losses, our struggles, our pain.

It is exciting to see that Imlie felt Aryan's tear for the first time -- he is being vulnerable with her and she is confronted that this man who she thinks has no feelings and is a statue is in fact a living breathing human who feels very strongly. He too is in need of protection.

I really want to watch that scene now cause it sounds so beautiful and rational!

Those who have suffered and lived on have the biggest hearts in my opinion and Arpita/Narmada are examples of the same. Despite getting insulted, those two accepted every word of Blue Aunty just to make sure nothing happened to Arylie’s future. It was that kind of selflessness that shows their love for the couple. Their strength is silent but it’s there!
