okay, I finally got around to watching yesterday's episode and I cried and felt so bad for Arpita and Narmada -- they were so excited to do this ritual and for aunty blue to publicly humiliate them -- 😢

@baarish_sim ~ have mixed feelings about Imlie's words. While I loved that she made sure that Arpita and Narmada were included and showed them love and respect, her argument that she is an unconventional girl and therefore, it is an unconventional marriage somehow made the argument have less teeth. By that argument extension, a conventional girl would have sat back and watched?

Just a minor quibble from me... or maybe I am just spoiled by the movie scene I shared earlier. It was so sane and on point. By the way, I searched to see if that scene is available with eng subs but there wasn't. The director was known for his social comedy mix -- basically situational humour mixed with biting wit plus a take on society. So even years later, his movies are still entertaining to watch.

Anyways, back to the drama: It also makes me wonder what happened with Arpita's wedding and why aunty blue keeps saying that no rituals were followed. Did they just have a court marriage? Was that the issue? Also if aunty blue thinks she can do the ritual, then there must be uncle blue somewhere????? And I am surprised that Aryan didn't insist that Aditya also apply haldi on him to complete the ritual. 😂

Yes! not sure why Imlie had to bring in the T family into everything 🤷...

I re-watched bits of that movie yesterday -- so when the sister says she can't bless because she is cursed as her husband died, the uncle counters that many women in our society are cursed precisely because the husband is alive! 😂 ...so some of that kind of sane counter would have been more of a zinger. like you said, Imlie's counter was a bit all over the place. I guess I would have liked a bit more from her to put aunty blue in place.

The scene did highlight how much trauma Narmada and Arpita are still facing. They are petrified at the idea of loss and of something going wrong that they are willing to step aside. Hope we get lot more insight into how Arpita got married and what the family was like before the brother-in-law's death.

I was so happy to see Imlie taking a stand against this superstition mainly because of the bold step taken by the makers to convey an important message and also because it took me back to my marriage day where my maternal grandmother was supposed to be kept away from all main functions as she was a widow, whereas I was adamant to involve her in all functions as her contribution in my life is immeasurable. And that didn't bring any ill-fate for me; instead I believe I had more blessings from the High because of that one step.❤️
