Exactly! These songs have been chosen at the face value. Itna deep thinking nahi daala hai on significance

Well Parvati was reincarnation of Sati... first wife...

And Shiva went into Roudra roop tandav when Sati died...

Baki to significance nahi hai... par ye wala Shiva bhi tandaav bahot karta hai biwi ko kisi aur ke saath dekh ke 😃

Please don't ask this question, otherwise writers will say, Parvati didn't allow but Shiva placed Ganga on his head while Parvati sat either on his lap or beside him. So if we ask too many questions, they will make Pakhi as auspicious Ganga.

Pinga is a Marathi folk song which they reappropriated for Bajirao Mastani film. So that's the latest association for people hearing it.

But Kashi and Mastani truly loved Rao. Didn't compete with each other and certainly didn't try to upsmart each other. Also Bajirao didn't downgrade either of the two relationships. In real life and to some extent in the film. (I have read the original Marathi novel Rau on which the film is based).

Also, for that point of time in history it was okay to be polygamous... But certainly not now. 👎🏼

They had earlier linked Sai with Kashi in that guroor dialogue. I loved it then.. ... But by that extension, is Pakhi Mastani???? The one true love? And Sai is Kashi? Official and legal wife for all intents and purposes... But who was betrayed because she trusted him so much?

Yuck yuck yuck...what kind of imagery and symbolism are they suggesting with this?

Kab akal aayegi in logo ko...

Thoughts please... 😡

I don't even want to comment on the episode after this. Will watch it tomm probably to see how it is being shown in the episode otherwise looks like tata bye bye from me.

I think Sai is Mastani as she came into his life later and Pakhi came first like Kashi. But it's stupid comparison.

Please ignore if you all are getting irritated. 😭

There is too much symbolism to Pinga in Bajirao Mastani.

Mangalagour (Mangal (auspicious) + Gour (Gouri- Parvati's another name)) is a ritual that a newly married Marathi woman performs.

Every Tuesday of Shravan month for the first five years of her married life, the woman performs a pooja early in the morning worshipping Shiva/Mahadev and asking for all sorts of blessings married ladies ask for their husbands.

In the fifth year, there's an udyapan or samapti of that ritual. Where all married female relatives, elders, neighbours and especially newly married woman are invited. There are specific games and songs played and performed. Pinga is just one of them and it has specific steps (one of which is the hook step in the movie).

These songs are traditional ones like those of godhbharai, haldi etc... passed on through oral history.

In the film, although they do not mention it as Mangalagour, Kashi invites Mastani by offering her traditional Maharashtrian saree and jewellery, symbolically accepting that Mastani is not a passing fad and Rao truly loves her and Kashi therefore accepts her position in their household.

It is thus her approval for Rao and Mastani's relationship and since she being the first wife doesn't mind, others shouldn't too and stop harassing Rao over this.

This is the context of Pinga in the film and here they have used it thoughtlessly.... Hence my rant 😭

its ok yr we do understand your irritation and thankyou for this piece of information lovely tradition i never knew kashi gave mastani saree for this reason
