This film's greatest achievement, apart from bringing out the truth about KP Genocide has been that it has managed to get this truth to those people, who were not aware of it and or knew very little. A friend who has always lived in South India called and asked me if what is shown in the film really happened and how come, even though she grew up in the 90's when the Genocide happened, she didn't know anything about it. Because there was no social media and the mainstream news censored what happened back then, people who were not from Delhi and surrounding areas (where the KP's first settled after the exodus) really didn't know much about it. I lived in Delhi and I knew about the refugee camps and settlements that had come up for them. Plus, KP's look so different from the general Delhi population, that they stood out everywhere they went.

The apathy regarding KP is not just because of political reasons, it is also because of geographical reasons. India is a huge country, so to expect that someone from Kerala would know about something happening in Kashmir, back in the early 90's, with restricted media access is not reasonable. But today, due to social media and the reach of films, the story is finally reaching people. The audience reaction of people from Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore is very telling. They look genuinely stunned that something so horrific happened in our own country, with our own people and they had no idea about it. But it is so good, that they are going out in huge numbers to watch and support the film and get educated about the plight of KP.

The Kashmir Files continues to create havoc at the box office as again collections on Tuesday show no signs of any drop. The film is showing gains on Tuesday morning and afternoon against the same shows on Monday so you take another 15 crore nett for the film is there again.

There is a chance that it will go higher but even a number of 15 crore nett is phenomenal as the Tuesday figures will be in the same range as Sunday or higher. The five day collections of the film are likely to be over 57 crore nett and there are still two days of the week remaining.

It is still hard to say where the week will end up but you a realistic number can be somewhere in the range of 85-95 crore nett depending on what happens on Wednesday and Thursday. The second week business of the film may be more than the first week the way the film is going right now.

The momentum of this film is so strong that it is likely to affect the new release Bachchhan Pandey this week because if this momentum continues then The Kashmir Files is looking to do a 20 crore nett or more number on the Holi holiday and it will not be letting go of screens, On top the film is strongest in Hindi belts which is the target audience of Bachchhan Pandey also.

Appreciate all from BW who came fwd to acknowledge the movie..this one is particularly heartwarming.

Riteish and Genelia r among the people who r very subjective about things and see them as they r..they speak from heart.

That s stretching. Nobody praised Haider because it showed a temple as ominous. People praised it because it was a good adaptation of hamlet. Supporting movies like Haider and gangubai comes easier because it's just that, a piece of art. While kf is a serious issue. It's not fictional at all. Bw was never good at talking about serious issues. But that does not mean that they have anti-Hindu sentiments

It's very good that kf is so well received among the general audience, because it is a story that is needed to be told. The only downside is Modi and gang butting in to spread communal hatred using someone s tragedy.

I think iski baat me dum to hai. TKF ki commercial success ne chup baithe logon ko bhi tareef karne ko majboor kar diya.
