IPL 2022 likely to be held in India behind closed doors

The IPL 2022 mega auction will be held on February 12-13 in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The two new IPL teams- Lucknow and Ahmedabad-have reportedly already picked up three players each ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega auction. The two teams were given two weeks to finalize their draft picks.

As per the sources, IPL 2022 will be held in India without the crowd in Mumbai and Pune. The venues are likely to be Wankhede Stadium, Cricket Club of India and DY Patil Stadium.

The BCCI is likely to give a go-ahead to hosting IPL 2022 in India if the COVID-19 third wave subsides, the sources said.

The last date for IPL player registration was January 20. A total of 1,214 players has signed up to be a part of the IPL 2022 mega auction, including 896 Indian players and 318 overseas cricketers.

The two-day IPL 2022 mega auction will see all 10 teams bidding to pick up some of the finest talents in international cricket.

The player's list for the IPL 2022 mega auction includes 270 capped players, 903 uncapped players and 41 associate players.

The Indian Premier League released a list of 590 players for the upcoming IPL 2022 Mega Auction, scheduled to take place on February 12 and February 13 in Bengaluru.

With the addition of two new teams, the IPL 2022 is set to be far more exciting than in previous seasons. Ahmedabad and Lucknow are the two new franchises that are set to be added, making the marquee tournament a 10 team competition.

According to reports, about one thousand players are expected to register their names for the tournament. From these, about 250 are expected to be shortlisted for the Tata IPL 2022 mega auctions. So far, the eight old teams have retained a total of 27 players in their squads. The retained players include 19 Indian capped players, four foreigners and four uncapped players.

The likes of Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, and the Mumbai Indians have retained four players each. Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Royal Challengers Bangalore have retained three players each. Punjab Kings is the only team that has retained just two players.

Ahead of the auction, the two new franchises (Lucknow and Ahmedabad) will be permitted to pick three players each in their squad from the pool of released players. From these, they can choose only one overseas player.

Buzz is Ahmedabad wants Hardik as captain and Lucknow wants KL Rahul ...so they could be already out of the race if 3 players have been picked.

Also heard that Rashid Khan was also on Lucknow's wishlist bigtime.

Shreyas Iyer is on the list of a couple of teams as a captain apparently (RCB mainly).
