If we are comparing ATBBs, then I find KKHH to be a FAR better film than DDLJ as the film takes me on a roallercoaster of emotions (Karan Johar is so good at that), whereas DDLJ borderline turns into a over-the-top David Dhawan comedy in the second half.

As far as Chopra films go, I find Veer Zaara to be MILES ahead of DDLJ as well. Veer Zaara is an innocent love story and is actually my all-time favorite film!

Veer zaara is so beautiful and amazing!! It’s one of my most favs too. I love the chemistry between srk & Preity. It’s so amazing. I don’t watch it again and again cuz it’s depressing.. but yes, veer zaara touches you differently than other Yash Johar movies or any other romances since the 90s. The movie is gold🥰

The film is so beautifully emotional that in some scenes I feel like tearing up just from hearing the background music 😅 We never get to see such innocent love stories in today's time, as all love stories now seem to be based on sex.

And yes agreed that Veer Zaara does tend to get depressing, it's not really a film you can watch everyday and I always believe that's the reason why the film wasn't as big of a hit as DDLJ at the Indian box office. DDLJ had a lot more comedy/mass elements and was more light-hearted in nature.

Why don’t you make threads on Akshay if you are such a huge fan. Does it bother you that no one cares much about him to leave a comment?

Kahenge ...ki SRK is OVER....lekin thread banayenge toh SRK per.....🤣

I was a big SRK fan till JTHJ. That movie was so bad that it instantly turned me off SRK. Still people are not identifying the biggest problems with SRK's movies. I liked what one person said here about SRK's directors that they mould the character around SRK where it should have been the other way round.

Most of his earlier movies worked because of him, he was the ultimate romance hero, but his recent movies makes him feel like older Rajesh Khanna who refuses to accept his age. And people praising him for Raees and Fan should really see these movies without their rose tinted glasses. Raees can easily be compared to Ajay's Once upon a time in Mumbai and that was a big hit and deservingly so. Ajay was cast as Sultan Mirza perfectly where as SRK's Raees Alam was just SRK playing Raees, also it doesn't help when the movies go against their own logic to glorify the lead actor. And Fan was just filled with loopholes turning the whole vibe 180 degrees. A good thriller has usually been successful in BW but Fan just went haywire. Their was no setup to big shocks. And the less said about JHMS and Zero the better.

Even SRK's amazing acting was unable to counterbalance Anushka's annoying performance in JHMS. Again I heard the protagonist was supposed to be a depressed guy but barring few scenes it was hard to connect with Harry's struggles. SRK is a good actor, he has already proven himself in MNIK, Swades and CDI. I think a good urban story would suit him too, he just needs tighter scripts and needs to stop his interference if it's true.

Agree with everything you said- and specifically about SRK needing to choose tighter scripts.

And for a change, work with a director who isn't in awe of you. Go with a Zoya or a Shakun Batra even...someone who will actually 'direct' you. I fully expected Imtiaz to be able to do at least this much regardless of the shitty script because actors love working with him, but evidently not. It's a pity because SRK's best acting is not where he goes 'big' but where the story, acting and direction style are tight, natural and fuss free. That's where his charisma and screen presence are put to best use, Dil Se being a prime example.

It's rare for such a big star to have so much untapped potential as an actor, but this is one case and it will be unfortunate if it remains so.

This! Some SRK fans seem to believe the Dharma-YRF type movies are his best work.

For one, he is past the age to portray such silly characters. Audience ain't buying it any more.

For another... my God! The man has done a Swades and a Chak De. Those movies were not meant for mass market audience, but we got glimpses of SRK's talent.

If a good director comes up with a tight script, SRK will knock it out of the park. Disagree re: Shakun and Zoya, though. I'd Iike to see SRK in a meaty thriller like Andhadhun. Or an investigation thriller like Kahaani. A couple of hits like that, and one or two serious films in between.

Agreed that SRK's acting was amazing in JHMS 👍🏼 I particularly love his acting in the scene where he sees off Anushka at the airport (before the climax)

I liked Raees because of srk and mohammed Zeeshan chemistry

and I liked srk and Mahira chemistry and I saw it after jab harry met Sajel, which I found so horrible, such a waste of imtiaz and srk and anushka ( I had liked her till this movie)
