Hilmand refuses to accept Sabz Ali's request for forgiveness and so the Jirga gathers to determine whether Samandar Khan's daughter should be given to Ghaq by Sabz Ali. Sabz Ali is reportedly lying about being drunk that night, and Jirga members deem his punishment appropriate.
Hilmand states he has lots of objections to the verdict. He questions how people can accept Sabz Ali's Ghaq in a drunken state if Quran prohibits prayer in a drunken state. Sabz Ali is forgiven by the Jirga but will receive 120 lashes in punishment for confessing about his intoxication.
On the other hand, Gull Meena clarifies that she won't let Hikmat make Ghaq because it will be discomfiting and trashy for her. Hikmat discusses with his aunt Zarghona the possibility of showing his consent if both of his parents both request Gul Meena's hand in marriage.
Hikmat speaks with his aunt Zarghona about whether she will consent to both his parents asking Gul Meena for her hand in marriage. Mastaan Singh returns to the village, while Zarsanga agrees to speak with her sister on behalf of Hikmat and Gul Meena.
