Amrik seemed like he was always going to be spineless. His moments of strength were just that. Every time he looks like he's going to become better, stronger, he just slips back to same cycle of holding Jasmine's pallu.

Why do I have a feeling that he's still jealous of Fateh for being his papa's golden boy and wanted to rebel ever since?

idk man...their obsession was so ridiculous... any sensible man would have divorced. bhaad mein jao. abhiraj toh gayab hi kar diya hai...and while papa sandhu is generally spineless, lets not forget he decided to fake an attack to force Tejo in an awful marriage. He was the worst...because he is not really sharp. I'm pretty sure when KSV suggested that, it's because he knew even back then, subconsciously F is in love with T, and T is the one who should marry.

But papa sandhu, forced his daughter into a marriage where the groom was obsessed with the sister(he's not at all aware of his nature, or how deep FT are) .

That would be a nice angle...we have discussed this in past. In fact there was a theory that he wanted jasfa because it would have made sure that Fateh would be outta his way in family hierarchy. With Tejo, it's decided that FT will be the heir of Virk family, because she's so sharp and PApa virk loved her from the beginning.
