The Grand Theft Auto series has always been embroiled in controversey. Particularly Jack Thompson has always been on a holy mission to sue Rockstar Games and Take 2.
According to Jack Thompson and his supporters the GTA series promotes violence and anti-social behavior. The series has been cited as responsible for teenage violence. GTA III hot coffee mod and the latest 'Ladies of Liberty City' video for GTA IV have raised objections over nudity and portrayal of women. The game is deemed as a nuisance to society. In Jacks words GTA "the gravest assault upon children in this country since polio ".
Supporters and fans of the game say that it is a video game and not intended to be real. There is no correlation between video games and violence as several countries sell titles rated M in USA at 14+ or 15+ and do not face the issues with violence. The same goes for sexual content. Besides the game is rated M or 18+ . It is the parents and guardians job to raise kids and watch what they play.
So is GTA a nuisance and an assault on children or a game that has developed an unnecessary bad reputation.Which Rockstar does not mind, the more controversey the more people want it.
