I loved the songs
It is one of the few movies where I liked Vivek as a hero
Love the songs. And the lyrics were so beautiful. Title song IMO is one of Gulzar's best work till date.
Kabhi neele aasmaan pe, chalo ghoomne chale hum
Koi abr mil gayaa to, zameen pe baras lein hum
Barf giri ho vaadi mein, Aur hansi teri goonje
Oon mein lipti simti hui, Baat kare, dhuaan nikle
The feels ❤️
O humdum was my favourite. So glad no one has ruined the songs by 'remaking' them
The title song was the ringtone of so many Nokia mobiles back in the day 😆.
I didn't think I'd like Vivek and Rani together but I did. And yes lovely songs. Rani looked lovely in that silk blouse and tiny jhumkas
Almost all the songs are amazing in this movie. Miss albums like this.
I still listen to Saathiya movie Title track.. 😳
But, I like the Original Tamil movie even more.. from which this movie was made..
People who watched the South version first said they liked it better than the Hindi version and the jodi too, even those who they didn't know the language...
Luckily I never watched the South version so I enjoyed this without having another version to compare it to. The thing is, the original was directed by Mani Ratnam, while this was directed by some mediocre Shad Ali, and that alone makes all the difference, trust me.
But as a stand-alone movie, it was pretty good, no? Easily one of my most favorite performances of Rani. yeah she wasn't anything path-breaking or out-of-the-world-good, but she was extremely natural and potent as Suhani. No overt acting or ott moments, no dramatic histrionic. Just natural acting.
I was almost thinking of a rewatch and making a thread on this film when I found this topic, lol. I guess it's really time for a rewatch.
The director worked as Maniratnam's assistant
This article does a superb comparison, It's like the author did a Ph.d on the subject
Agree about what he says about the cast... Rani & Vivek still looked like movie stars but Shalini and Madhavan looked like they were born to play the role. Looked much youner and fresher, like they were growing up onscreen in front of us
