So why did SLB take Deepika who looked worn out and her worst in the film?

Even Aditi Rao Hydari looked stunning and would have made a better Padmavati.

Is there really a shortage of good-looking women in Bollywood that they had to take a woman whose looks faded ages ago? No idea what she did but she hasn't looked gorgeous in years.

Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.. Some find even the botoxed faces ethereal while others see magic in worn out looks too

But Alas! you have all been globalied to and think a blond hair streaked, fair skin, false eyelash wearing laxmi is the essence of beauty.

Women like Deepika, Aishwarya and so many others have that unmistakable ethnic look, they ARE the truest ideal examples of female Hindi beauty in my humble opinion, I find them gorgeous...maybe that is what SLB was going for...

Lol 😆 I understand DP isn't all that likeable when it comes to her obnoxious personality, but looks is one such department where she can't be trolled imo. She looks quite pretty in traditional attire & her facial features are (at least were, in 2018) quite beautiful by Indian standard. SLB dressed her well & she looked absolutely stunning as Padmavati for most part of the movie.

If not her, then who (considering the time the movie was made)?

Deepika is phony and narcissistic but she is undoubtedly beautiful. I’ve yet to meet anyone (beyond IF) who doesn’t find her beautiful or attractive so that’s not a great argument.
