Akansha Ranjan Kapoor and Sharan Sharma are officially married; here's a closer look at their intimate wedding

Actor Akansha Ranjan Kapoor and filmmaker Sharan Sharma have shared glimpses of their intimate wedding celebrations, revealing that their special day focused more on personal moments than a grand setup. The couple tied the knot four years after they started dating, following a relationship that began with a chance introduction through a mutual friend.

Recalling their first meeting, Akansha shared that Sharan’s Instagram profile was shown to her by a friend, who told her, “He thinks you're really cute. He really likes you.” Talking about her reaction, she said, “I was like, 'That director dude? I've heard of him.' Then I followed him back.”

The two later met at a birthday party where friends jokingly referred to the gathering as Akansha’s swayamvar. According to Akansha, Sharan revealed his interest when asked about the girl he liked. While she believed they were only becoming close friends, Sharan clarified, “There's a misconception there. I thought we were well beyond friends.” Their friendship eventually turned into a relationship.

Sharan proposed to Akansha during what she thought was a birthday trip to Alibaug. She wanted a bigger celebration, but Sharan preferred keeping the moment private. The proposal happened the night before the planned party while Akansha was dealing with an allergy attack. As she asked him to turn off the lights, he played Angel by Jack Johnson and proposed with a ring.

Recalling the moment, Akansha said, “Trust you to do this when I'm having an allergy attack.” Sharan explained that he wanted the proposal to feel personal, saying, “I wanted it to be straight from the heart. Just the two of us in our safe space, in night suits and pyjamas.”

The wedding festivities began with a pre-wedding gathering in Mumbai attended by around 120 guests. Akansha wore a dusty pink Manish Malhotra outfit, while Sharan opted for a burgundy look. The menu also included comfort food like Maggi and French fries.

The couple’s wedding took place in the garden of their apartment building and featured handwritten vows, speeches, live acoustic music, dinner and cake. Akansha wore a custom red sari by Arpita Mehta, while Sharan chose an ivory kurta with a bundi jacket.

Sharing their experience of planning the wedding, Akansha said the process brought them closer. “People always say couples fight the most while planning a wedding. But I feel like we became a dream team,” she said. Sharan added, “We were like co founders of a startup,” highlighting how they divided responsibilities and worked together.
