Drashti Bhanushali Reacts After Being Linked To Rohit Chandel Case, Issues Public Appeal

The Mumbai Police have arrested television actor Rohit Chandel for allegedly stalking and harassing a 16-year-old girl in Mumbai's eastern suburbs. The actor, known for his roles in shows such as Kashibai Bajirao Ballal and Pandya Store, was arrested on Friday and later produced before a court, which remanded him in judicial custody.

According to the police, Rohit Chandel, 29, has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, along with sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to stalking and voluntarily causing hurt.

The case has drawn attention across social media and television circles. Soon after the reports surfaced, another claim also began circulating online, linking the victim to actress Drashti Bhanushali, who is currently seen playing a pivotal role in Ektaa Kapoor's revival of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi Season 2.

As speculation continued to spread, Drashti Bhanushali took to her social media account and issued a statement requesting people not to involve her in the matter.

She wrote:

"Please don't drag me into the matter that is currently ongoing. Kindly do not involve or tag me. The judiciary will take its own course, and whatever the truth is, it will emerge through the proper legal process.

Her statement came after her name started circulating online in connection with the ongoing case. In her post, Drashti requested that people not tag or involve her, stating that the legal process should be allowed to take its course.

According to the police officer handling the case, Rohit Chandel, who resides in Dahisar, allegedly had an altercation with the teenager on July 5.

The officer stated that Chandel confronted the girl near her residence. During the incident, he allegedly started shouting at her, chased her and assaulted her.

Following the alleged incident, the teenager approached the local police station and lodged a complaint.

Based on her complaint, the police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Rohit Chandel.

The investigation is currently underway.

According to the officer, the police will collect CCTV footage from the area where the alleged incident occurred as part of the investigation.

The police also plan to record the girl's detailed statement. Officials stated that the investigation will proceed further based on the evidence collected and the victim's statement.

Meanwhile, Rohit Chandel was produced before the court on Friday after his arrest.

The court remanded him to judicial custody.

The actor has worked in several television shows over the years, including Kashibai Bajirao Ballal and Pandya Store. His arrest has now become a major talking point within the television industry.

At the same time, Drashti Bhanushali's statement has clarified her position amid the speculation circulating on social media.

In her note, she requested that people not drag her into the ongoing matter and emphasised that the judiciary would determine the truth through the proper legal process.

The police investigation continues, with authorities examining CCTV footage, recording statements and gathering evidence related to the case.

As of now, Rohit Chandel remains in judicial custody while the legal process continues. Officials have stated that the investigation will proceed based on the evidence collected during the inquiry.

With the matter now under investigation, the police have maintained that further action will be taken as the probe progresses. At the same time, Drashti Bhanushali has appealed to the public not to involve or tag her in connection with the ongoing case and to allow the legal process to unfold.
