My post was under assumption they are not getting Bollywood offers so if the option is between a regional industry vs reality show on sony I would prefer regional songs as a fan. But as you said in future I hope SMP will put a dedicated effort to grab some hindi songs or try doing her own music videos with collaboration with some music labels. For later she need money which she is earning now with concerts.

Young girls do have lot of potential but when they don't have opportunities they are doing best with in the available options in my opinion. May be Arunitha is in better position than SMP as she has HR and Octopus albums while SMP's songs are yet to be released. Only time can tell future of these two young girls. We can only hope they get better opportunities and don't disappoint us.

Re. bold: I am beginning to agree with you on this. I just posted the following on the Arunita AT. Posting it here too for the sake of completeness.

As I think more about this, I am now not so sure this has a positive impact on her career. My reasoning is as follows.

This is a very dire picture in my opinion. I sincerely hope that all my pessimism is misplaced and in reality she does well in her career.

• The Octopus contract was for 20 songs. I believe it would be "upto 20", but even 5 or 10 songs at this stage of the career is a big addition to the discography. And released songs is what other directors / producers / music composers would give weightage to.
• We know that at least 1 more song is already recorded, maybe 2 based on some reports. But there is a definite chance that there may not be more songs. If she is the one who reneged from the contract by opting out of the videos, it is most likely that the contract releases Octopus from any obligations of recording further songs with her. It would be an incredibly naive lawyer who did not factor in such a clause.
• Increasingly, featuring in videos of one's own songs is become mainstream. All the big artists of Bollywood are doing that. Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal, Shaan, Badshah, Guru Randhawa, Neha Kakkar, Tony Kakkar - even HR himself :). Instead of choosing to opt out of videos a better option may have been to work out the differences and come to an acceptable resolution for both parties.
• One only has to look at Raj Surani's filmography on IMDB to know that he is extremely well connected with literally all the names that matter in Bollywood. Continuing to work with Octopus would have meant being able to benefit from those connects. Now, that may no longer be the case.
• On the other hand, if at all there was any acrimony involved in this, then it may be a significant disadvantage and could work to her detriment.
• In this industry, out of sight is out of mind. Being in the public eye with your work is important. Octopus afforded a great opportunity for that. Now - who knows what work will come.
• After ditching Octopus, she has taken up the Singing Superstar 2 Reality Show. She is extremely young compared to all the other Captains, and seems out of place. There is a very significant risk of being branded a "reality TV star" instead of a "singer".

Not exactly excited about them concentrating on regional industries as a viewer..it will just mean they didn't leverage the enormous opportunity they got as finalists of a super successful and one of the longest running national reality show..

Of course they will get enough work at regional level..and popularity too..but limited.

Fans will follow their work till a certain level..like how long would we be happy watching their insta posts about doing small gigs in different cities? And how much would we hear them in a language we dont understand? Would be happy for their 'regional' success but unhappy as n admirer of their talent.

I was very positive about Aishwarya Majmudar and Anwesha Dutta at one point of time..both good talents..now both r working at regional level..and not hearing much about Aishwarya even though she's from my own state and is fairly successful.

Sadly, I see young girls of II12 going the same way..plan well girls..u have immense potential

True - regional industry can only throw up 1 or 2 stars that can get national fame - only Bollywood can do that. If they choose to focus on regional industry they are severely limiting their scope.

I remember Aishwarya and Anwesha too - you could just not choose which of the two was better, and they were both superlative. They probably also suffered from the fact that they came into prominence just around the time that Shreya Ghoshal had really taken off. For Arunita, on the contrary, she is coming into prominence as Shreya Ghoshal is potentially closer to the end of her career than the peak. But then career decisions - act in haste, repent at leisure.

Main point is that she truly enjoyed doing the series we can see from her reels, interviews, her bond with choreographers and team..this has more to do with family going by Surani's interview..and I can totally understand her parents' concern...they r trying to protect their young daughter from what they feel to be a dangerous arena..but instead they should make Aru strong enough to filter good from bad..letting go of opportunities is not the way. Thats y I always felt her mom should be around.. her family comes from a pure musical background..we can see how her mom has taught her all nuances, given maturity to her voice. Being purists they may find all this hype not worth it. Their choice..what can we do. Hope what they have decided works out best for her

Fan comments have added to their concerns..we can see in the way Aru didn't post for MD 15M but shares stories of HR solo..this is what her fans wanted..

Alienating a large chunk in the process.

I genuinely wish her well. There is an incredible amount of talent - she is blessed, really, to have this supreme combination of technical excellence coupled with a pleasing voice. It really needs to shine and I do hope things work out for her in the long run.

Ya he looks unhappy.

If Arunita or her family is uncomfortable than that's all that really matters. There's no point for us to speculate. Maybe Octopus should have thought more before they decided to make the whole music series around the romance between two contestants one of whom is barely even an adult.
