Honestly majority of ladies loved the Kabir Singh character and rooted for him. The hoopla was bogus but it didn't affect the film at all. He was the ideal alpha male!

He was acting like a loser for half of the film, simping over a girl. Kaahe ka "alpha male"?

Just imagine if Preeti said no to kabir or if she liked someone else, can you imagine what a guy like kabir would have done?

Kabir did not even introduce himself to preeti and he already decided she is his and he starts warning all the other boys to stay away from her, he starts taking her out of her classes and even kisses her and lays his head on her lap without asking her permission

The character is so problematic in every way, the fact that they had to make preeti into such a weak and mute girl who just accepted everything kabir did says it all, only a girl with no self respect would tolerate such a man

Movie was boring AF. I think I’ll stick to reading books when I want a hit of my psychotic obsessed heroes. Dark romance is far more enjoyable when you’re reading it. The dialogues was so cringe in this movie.

I think a lot of the film is taken on face value rather than truly understanding the characters

Kabir is introduced as a jerk and preety as a meek college fresher

So we kinda stick to those characterisations without understanding that it’s not their entire personality

Their initial equation and scenes are unsettling due to the uneven power dynamic between the two …but

There are several examples throughout the film of preethi refusing to be a pushover , asserting herself , and being just as crazy as KS (she initiates the sex, demands him to kiss her in public , stands up to her father, breaks off a marriage, goes through an entire pregnancy by herself alone)…these examples are enough to give her the benefit of doubt that her initial meekness was not a personality trait but rather situational since she was in a new place / new to college and was new to all the attention and didn’t know how to react

Similarly there are several examples of KS being “the weak, emotional one” since he is the one that succumbs to drugs , is impulsive and succumbs to his emotions , ruins his career and his other relationships for all this and dosent exhibit mental strength when things don’t go his way …for all his “alpha male” ness, he’s the one that behaves like a giant baby

I don’t necessarily agree with the constant rant that preethy is weak and was dominated by kabir all the time …a lot of what happens to her in the film is HER choice …

Both are very well written characters precisely because there is a lot more to them than what meets the eye…I found that aspect interesting …and ofcourse the music and shahids performance

Are there any scenes where Shahid is shirtless in this movie? He is hot ☺️

Shahid was the best part about Kabir Singh cuz he's a brilliant actor and I had a massive crush on him for the longest time. I would never put up with watching a grade A jerk do so many wrong things for three hours straight if it wasn't for him. 😆

P.S. The movie had some amazing soundtracks too! Love Bekhayali!
