Nice very well done. and anuj ka utne main hi udana as well as him being i feel light after 26 yrs

Yes, it was a beautifully written and performed scene.....just the pick me up I needed after a draggy Imlie episode😆

They navigated the emotions well....Anu ke saare reactions including her being like chalo jab main young thi, toh theek dikhti thi, so I can understand you liked me then😆, but now when I am teen bacchon ki Maa, you still love me? 😆......Woh saara awe and her being humbled by the scope of his love....giving it that pious touch as you said - ki aise toh koi bhagwaan se hi pyar karta hai.....then her being like main bhagwaan toh nahin hoon, it's your graciousness that you chose me to love like this.....lol aage se Anuj ke expressions being like he didn't know where to interject and be like mere liye toh tum Devi hi ho😆.

Graph achha tha scene ka....with Anuj initially being unsure ki Anu ko kitna pata hai and who told her.....then him being blown away when he realizes that Anu ne sab firsthand khud sunaa iska confession😆.....and yes that entire bit of him initially saying it with his eyes lowered - not backing down from admitting his love but also not yet having the courage to look her in the eye - he only did that when she herself said ki galat nahin ho toh nazrein kyun jhukaayi.....that gave him the courage to say it with determination by looking into her eyes. Ultimately as he said, by the end he felt free and unburdened cuz ek hi baat chhupaayi sabse itne saalon tak and aaj finally woh direct aakhon mein dekh kar boli toh he is now free from that suffocation of hiding something.

And they've basically now played it as Anu telling him ki he knows what one-sided love feels like and how uske baad kisi aur se pyar karne ka scope nahin hota......lol basically telling him that she has also done apne hisse ka one-sided love and that's it for now - and that is why she can't give Anuj anything in return for his devotional love for her. Ummeed wala portion was also nicely done....Anu telling him ki is pyar ko reciprocate karne ki koi ummeed nahin hai toh Anuj telling her ki he hasn't allowed any ummeed to come into his heart in 26 years - he already knows not to expect.....so that again made Anu all awed by him and she rose to the level of saying that their relationship is now the one she trusts the most and the one she feels has the most sanctity to it - maryada.....and that was enough for Anuj.....haha he toh still can't believe uske pyar ko itna respect and admiration bhi mil gaya Anu se......lol the way he said, "mere liye kaafi hai".....lol

Anu ke liye toh yeh bhi badi baat hai to admit that this rishta is more than dosti😆.....that's a long way she's come from initially barely even glancing at him.....lol....but that level of trust and comfort has grown nicely in their friendship for her to now talk to him so openly on any topic.....and the courage she has now found in saying that she doesn't care if society doesn't understand their benaam rishta - aapas mein yeh dono samajhte hain aur uske Kanhaji bhi toh it's good enough for her😆

Scene toh bahut achha tha but aage it remains to be seen how the dynamic plays out in practice....lol now that Anu knows the extent of his love for her, woh baat daily interactions mein bhulne waali toh hai nahin.....aayegi hi baar baar in some form and I think she will continue to be awed by the extent of his love for her.....she will no longer be oblivious to it or think it's just his general friendliness....lol.....aage ka portion looks like it will be all about them talking through their dosti and pyar at every point - kuch bhi hide karne wala nahin hoga.

Finally watched Udham Singh today......

Really well made and definitely stands out for the level of focus on the little details of a man's perseverance for 21 long years....you feel each level of struggle in his journey.....the realities of carrying on a struggle by yourself with no major support......that shot in the early half of the moment when Udham is walking across the snow covered wilderness of USSR.....you are truly struck in that moment by the enormity of the landscape and this single/solitary man just soldiering on with no certainty of success. Just the thought put into telling this story from the psyche of the man rather than empty jingoism and cheap slogans of performative patriotism.

They also spent a significant amount of time showing the British perspective as well without caricaturizing it......the ruthless cold bloodedness that defines them and how they rationalize their atrocities so calmly.....it gives you chills. Especially the scenes of O'Dwyer justifying himself to Udham and other people many times.....truly personifying evil.....and the way they even showed Udham wondering how a man could be so evil and without remorse.

Then ofcourse the last 20 minutes of the movie with the Jallianwallah Bagh sequence.....words really can't do justice to the painstaking detail with which that was depicted....never before has the massacre been shown in such detail in cinema I think.....and the way it was used in the final section of the movie to bring that moment full circle of what was the turning point in Udham's life.....you feel every second of that long night right with him - a total immersion as you feel the struggle to carry every body, every trip on that cart......the palpable despair, the cry for mercy from God.....it's another level of harrowing to watch but so important to watch too I feel in today's era where patriotism is also a gimmick for hire for most people.....you should not be able to look away so casually from the sacrifice of those who actually struggled and lost so much rather than those who type two lame tweets and do victim-playing all day in some virtual reality.

I've visited the memorial only once but it is a sobering experience.....and that was before watching this scene.....there is a stillness in the place and when you walk down the narrow lane that leads to the main ground, you feel that sinking feeling in your heart about how that day must have been.....it always felt beyond imagination but the way it has been brought alive in this film, this scene....it will deffo stay with me for a while.

It makes you think about the meaning of freedom and love of country on another level. Wish more films were made with such sensitivity.

P.S. I also loved the way they depicted Bhagat Singh and Udham Singh's bond in this story....nothing typically filmy as it has been in other movies made on Bhagat Singh.....ek alag shade tha - I really liked it.

Thank you for the review yaar I am definitely watching this soon..heard only great things and yes such films are important esp for aaj kal.ki.junts jo knows nothing of what our ancestors actually have gone through but are quick to dismiss the fight for independence the struggle the atrocities they bore.. it is easy to be like so what? But like really so what? Again it is a different thing hearing it as a casual fact and then hearing the personal stories ..I have heard plenty from my grandma who remembered every vivid detail as a 7 years old kid at that time of partition how they saw things that nobody should ever have seen and till her last moment she would forget other things but if you ask her about independence everything would be exactly told to.you in exact detail down to what they wore .. it is ohtrr level of traumatizing and I can even imagine little kids seeing that bodies flowing in rivers etc 😳 and ofourse this jadianwalan massacre is being called the biggest event caz that kinda set the wheels rolling even with more fire.. it gave that final now or never wala feel but yeah it is too scary to even think and visualize.. so that is kinda hding me back which is why I haven't gotten I to it caz as I sold another thing to heat it as a story and the get a visual but at the same time a much important one too and something aaj kal ki generations have no.idea about. It is down right outrageous whe they say and pin it as the politicians and the qaum did all this for fun caz bored thay shayad reh nahi sakte tbay harmony wala image dete hain jab

You're welcome, yaar....maine bhi bahut time put off kiya dekhna cuz I knew it will be a serious watch. But aaj time mila toh finally dekh liya and it truly is a well made movie.

Forgot to add that it's a fabulous performance from Vicky Kaushal 👏......I just loved the way he shut up that Inspector ki what were you doing at 23? So it's better you not talk about Bhagat Singh.

We were atleast still taught basic freedom struggle ki history in school....aaj kal ke bacche toh Watsapp/Twitter se "education" lete hain toh obviously na freedom ki value hai na understanding....bas hashtags and Tiktoks banaa ke duniya jeet li lagta hai inko. It's just really depressing ki jo ek baseline toh maana jaata tha growing up ki these were the heroes of the struggle for independence, aajkal koi bhi unka casually dismiss kar deta hai and people don't even blink. There is more appetite to outrage over ek Aryan Khan ka jail arrest than to even bother remembering the struggles and sacrifices of those who lost everything in ways we can't even begin to imagine.

Anyways, will look forward to your review whenever you watch it :)
