Unlike Deewangi where most of the heavylifting was done by Danish, every member of Team ADKKH did justice to their respective characters while supporting the leads. Be it Yashma's heartbreaking cameo as Noor Ul Saba or the actor who played Malik.

@blue, Understanding the difference between Jaan E Alam and Sultan Durrani is crucial for both us,the audience and Danish, the actor who portrayed them. Like you said, one of the two men is a fantasy. As a result of which,he,withstanding all his flaws,is protected by the rules of fiction and allowed to be what we call larger than life. Another character bears the burden of realism and exists to serve the purpose of delivering a message. One is meant to inspire awe while the other one is supposed to horrify us. Also the actions displayed by both of them further showcases the difference between fiction and reality. Characters like Sultan can face their fate by looking it in the eye whereas Alam was no different from other criminals who could not live long with the weight of his actions. When I watched ADKKH for the first time,I did not appreciate how Alam's innocent sister was subjected to a terrible fate in order for him to realise his mistakes. But it was later when I understood that this, too, mirrored reality. In real life, most people like Alam would not bother to realise the gravity of their sins let alone feel guilty unless something similar happens to them or their loved ones. This is why while the lovestruck Sultan held on to Nageen's memories,I am sure that Alam would have forgotten all about Maryam,Malik, all his victims and carried on with his old ways had his sister not gone through something similar or worse because that is what despicable criminals like him do in reality. The line between realism and fiction,as thin as it maybe, needs to be handled with caution and all three parties- writer, director and actor- need to ensure that it is not blurred for their vision to be executed. And it is no surprise that Danish understood the assignment perfectly. I agree that he is the sole reason why the character appeared attractive in the first place. Take him out of the equation and Alam would lose whatever appeal he had.

@green,the romantic angle was the only element that felt out of place. Actually it would have made more sense if Alam realised that he had feelings for Noor Ul Saba since he knew her longer than he knew Maryam.

@purple,Yes you are absolutely right here. Come to think of it again,it wasn't exactly the character whom I wanted to see attempting to woo the lady but the actor. Back then I kept wondering how the character would have turned out to be had he not been a such an irredeemable scumbag and had the story been different. But I did understand that it was not the purpose of the drama and would not be in accordance with the theme. I guess the universe works in mysterious ways for Deewangi happened not long after that and Sultan Durrani arrived to fulfil all my fantasies. So all's well that ends well thanks to Geo and 7th Sky.😆 That still doesn't mean I forgive them the manner in which they ended Sultan's story though🤔

@yellow.Just one word. SATYAVACHAN

@orange,Oh....I see. I wish she had made a different choice par uski life hai. Hum kar bhi kya sakte hain?

I'd like to mention another Danish show which aired on HUM and he won an award for it too, called Hum Thehray Gunehgaar. Danish's character in that show, Ramal Ali (or just Ali) had various shades and a crazy character graph. That show is way too twisted, if you haven't watched it and want to know the story let me know. But in short, Ali goes from romantic to heartbroken to a man who disregards his lady love's feelings just to get her to him, to turning into an obsessed man who wants her no matter what. This show and Ab Dekh had one similarity, both had a sense of realism. But HTG's execution felt more like Crime Patrol, even though Ali scared me and gave me creeps in different ways. This is where Ab Dekh scored over HTG. Because Alam caused me to have sleepless nights.

Ab Dekh's entire cast did such a fabulous job. Noor-Ul-Saba's breakdown after she realises the baby is gone and that Alam played her ached my heart. I can still hear her shrieks and and howls of despair. I must have seen the show multiple times now, since its on Zee5 but even though I know what's going to happen, I cannot bring myself to watch the scenes between Maryam and her father. It disgusts me how Alam tore apart that family.

Another difference between Sultan and Alam was that Sultan wasn't a wicked and vile person who searched for lives to destroy them. There are were actually many good qualities about him, which the writers seemed to forget as the show moved on, and ended his track in the worst way possible. Alam was an out-and-out villain. There was nothing redeemable about him which became clear in the first episode itself. He wore the mask of a perfect son and brother, beat him the gardener who harassed the maid and seemed like the quintessential gentleman...until he received the phone call from his girlfriend revealing that she is pregnant. His reaction and thoughts showed he was irredeemable.

Danish of course understands the assignment every damn time, its painful to see he is still under-appreciated despite back-to-back fabulous and flawless performances.

It wouldn't make sense for Alam to be in love with either Saba or Mariam. He never wanted them that way. Mariam was going to be a pleasure toy for God knows how many men, including him. Although I doubt if Alam would touch her after someone else had touched her. He had felt the same for Noor-Ul-Saba, saying if she gave herself to him she could do it with anyone.

Sultan Durrani is an enigma I can write on and on about. There are just so many layers to him that Danish intentionally or unintentionally created. I would love to discuss him with you in more detail. ❤️

Are you Indian by any chance? I see you using a lot of shudh Hindi words. 😆

@bold,While I haven't watched HTG,I have a feeling that it is due to the difference in production values between Hum and Geo😆. One thing all Geo dramas have in common is that the props, sets and color grading is of high quality and Hum can't hold a candle to it.

@red,Alam deserved to be stoned in beech bazaar to be honest. Actually even that wouldn't have been sufficient.

@blue,You know now that you have said it,I realise that people like Sultan are the ones who can strike fear into the hearts of people like Alam. On one hand we have a man with a code of conduct who not only wields power but is ruthless enough to exercise it and on the other there is Alam who preyed on those weaker than himself. If the two were to meet then Sultan would have been disgusted by Alam and rightfully so. Not to forget he was an actual gentleman who minded his own business. Only if Buddhu Nageen had listened to him once But I am digressing from the topic now 😆

@purple,You know it actually annoys me when I see certain actors whom I would not name gaining overnight fame due to one drama that appeals to the twitter crowd while genuine talents like Danish are still underrated.

@green,Yes you do have a point here. Maybe the writer added it for some additional conflict. That reminds me Alam's mom was a maha annoying lady. After everything she still had the audacity to think that she could get Maryam to reunite with her son.

@pink, I would love to discuss about Sultan with you as well. I guess I will never be over him

And yes you guessed it right. I am Indian😆

Off topic but Hurrem Sultan is just so gorgeous. Poor Suleiman never had a chance to resist

Not the production value, but the story. I'll type it tomorrow here. You need to know it because the story horrified all of us. I was watching simultaneously typing updates here 🤣 Regarding the production quality, Ab Dekh had a sepia toned aesthetic which looked more real than the extreme white (read Star Plus inspired) filters they have been using recently.

Alam was a nihayti kamina honestly. How well he was brought to life but, I actually felt for him for a fraction of a second

You are absolutely right. I can totally imagine Sultan saving Mariam from the clutches of the monster. Sultan would have reduced Alam to ashes without even doing anything himself. He hated such people and stuck by his morals and ethics. And you know why? Because no matter the situation, he was honest and open. Sultan only manipulated when needed, which is a major quality needed for both business and politics. He was not a serial manipulator who was out there to hurt people.

Sultan was actually a good person, who had been lonely his whole life. All he craved for was love which would be only his and support. He saw a fresh start in Nageen, I believe it was a crush that turned into eventual liking but before it could become love, there were already obstacles thrown in by his own family and Nageen.

I will never forgive the writers for the way they wrote Sultan towards the end because he was a lot of things, but he was not a murderer. Even with all his flaws, he was the better man. Haroon was also a hypocrite with serious double standards. Sultan was redeemable and could have easily become a better person.

Now this got me thinking...isn't this what society is like? The girl always choses the sweet, nice to talk to guy and by the time she realises his true colours she is in too deep, while the guy who was genuinely in love with but was too honest with his words suffers in the corner. The same theory applies in reverse too,

Digress all you want, this AT has no rules except you gotta be filthy-minded 😆

Don't get me started on other actors' fandom. Ask Puruu and -shopaholic- the way fandoms were behaving when Danish won the LSA for Deewangi. It was as if some next level paap happened.

Alam's mom...urgh I'd rather not go down that route 😆
