Sometimes I think the makers are way harsher with Adi’s character than Imlie’s.

Imlie has always been moralistic, she takes the high road even in situations when she’s been wronged. She has the heart to wholeheartedly love a child created like this, but that’s because she’s been built that way, consistently, as a character. It makes viewers associate with her even in situations where she makes mistakes or where she should be standing up for her own self-respect. She goes through much humiliation, but her core traits are preserved and her growth throughout this journey reflects in her actions.

The writers love showing Adi in the grey, though. They want to show him strong enough to fight for his marriage with Imlie, but at the same time they want to push him & constantly keep him in a zone of blinding guilt or helplessness with respect to Malini. His actions are misconstrued no matter what he does, and it’s becoming hard to figure out how much of it is the character itself, and how much is a bias in writing. Even though he doesn’t suffer the humiliation that Imlie’s been through, I can’t help but feel for the way his character is manipulated to fit the narrative. It’s not fair to Adi at all. 👎🏼

I totally get you, Dreamer, in fact there are many moments when I feel the same. However, this is where I feel we are being unfair to Adi too.

He’s being pigheaded, agreed, and his main fault is putting his trust in the wrong place. Imlie is constantly telling him to open his eyes and see the truth, but Adi doesn’t want to let go of the image that Malini has created of herself in his mind in the past seven years. He’s been emotionally abused and manipulated in that relationship, but the saddest part is he hasn’t even realized that, let alone processed it. He keeps saying Malini’s emotionally unstable, but the thought of her doing something to herself for the nth time, as she’s already done several times before, must terrify him on the inside. I will be the first to say it doesn’t excuse what he’s done to Imlie 👎🏼, she has all the right in the world to be upset with him and he needs to find a solution to this on his own, but if we can support Imlie even after she hasn’t walked away for the sake of her own dignity and self-respect, why can’t we give Adi the benefit of the doubt too?

Bottom line is they are both stuck in a bad situation, one of the worst any couple can go through really, but they’re both doing whatever they can to hold on to each other. Imlie by choosing to accept the child and Malini’s presence in Adi’s life for the rest of their life, and Adi by trying his best to win back Imlie’s trust without having to let go of Malini now that he has responsibilities towards her. Adi needs to wake up and smell the coffee, yes. He should redeem himself for having broken Imlie’s faith in him, absolutely. But I personally don’t think there is anyone else who can love Imlie more than Adi.

I used to wonder, if he loves her so much, why doesn’t he let her go? The truth is, love means different things to different people. For all his faults, his love for her is the rawest, most honest emotion he’s felt in his life. He wants her to soar high, but he also knows very well that he cannot survive without her, so he wants to tether himself to her no matter where she goes. For him, it’s not Imlie goes where I go — it’s I go where Imlie goes. This element of selfishness binds them together. It is high time he learns to fight for Imlie the right way and takes preventive measures to protect their relationship, but I don’t think he deserves her walking away from him. The poor man has no one in his life who puts him first the way Imlie does. 😔 I wouldn’t wish that hell on him, at least not while he still has a chance to make things right.

I know he is gadha/ostrich but after reading this I'm really feeling for him.. He is completely emotionally dependent on imlie.. He can't imagine his life n why i got it.. Adi imlie both are stuck in the inevitable situation n they will definitely overcome this with flying colors SM koi na koi rasta nikal legi apni bestie k liye.. As always

As u said there's no oonr who can love Imlie more than Adi.. Because as i always say for Imlie's selflessness there needs to be Adi's selfishness in their love so that strikes the balance the.. N last SM ka aashirwad is there on this relationship so how can it be wrong in anyway..

when you fall in love you want the best thing for your partner … you wish for their happiness love cannot be selfish … you try to stick with each other through thick and thins but you are in it together … here they are not his love is sleeping in some corner of the house from day 1 even after reinstating her as his wifey he couldn’t get her to move to guest room or with Rupi di that is pathetic you can’t b blind towards her miseries… you want to do things right then do it the right way … also he should think what is happening to a 19 yr old why is she been treated so badly … isn’t it his responsibility to step up and make sure to atleast provide her with basic things he realizes it when some1 tells him … she is a college going kid of 21st century and she doesn’t have a mobile … basic privacy to change her clothes and get ready 😀 even household help have their privacy nyways all this apart he should ponder how is this 19 yr old tortured many parents send their kid to hostel … he could atleast do tht to keep her away and protect her and her mind from all this toxic … how can he sleep peacefully under all this circumstances… he can spend time with her after office pick and drop her while she is in hostel … there are ways out but no his selfishness is killing her … why he wants to undergo such trauma … also he can sort out this mess he can’t father a child and have his ex in the same house as his present and he thinks everything will b fine … he doesn’t want domestic drama right then why is he giving material for it … I feel he should himself step up and let her go …or keep her away from this mess.

@bold: Bilkul sahi kaha aapne. There needs to be a balance and they strike it very well. In fact, I would say Imlie has learned to be selfish from Adi. Even with a baby in the picture, she’s not giving up on her love or her rights. This evolution in her mindset is all courtesy of Adi only. Now if only he could learn a thing or two from Imlie, they would be back on track. 😆

Another thing I want to point out — when Imlie brought up her broken trust in the date, the expression on Adi’s face said it all. He knew he was wrong when he deleted the video, only trying to explain his reasoning despite knowing it wouldn’t make a real difference, but to hear her say it repeatedly — you broke my trust, you broke my trust — it did break something in him too. It is penance for his own actions, yes, but I loved that he showed that vulnerability because to me, as a viewer, I am appeased that Adi is not as unaffected or non-conflicted by what he did as it appeared in the last few episodes. When he finds out the truth, he will be devastated by Malini’s actions and his own, but it is a blow he needs to walk out of the mountain of guilt he’s under. He will learn what placing unconditional trust on the right and wrong person means then. 😊

Just watched the clips n Jhalaks of whatever the epi was.. Hated the fact that imlie cancelled ger college for this didi n baccha nonsense.. Leaving that aside coz sab flip karte rehte hai yaha aaye din.. So yes as whatever ji said one scene girls.. One scene at a time.. That's the mantra now..

We're definitely moving towards some or other end at snail's speed.. Its either fake miscarriage or didi ka chehra coming out(saying this because the way imlie smartly mixed meds with juice n outsmarted didi ka drama.. She got that just because didi wants to make imlie bad infront of everyone she did that..n imlie got that)..

Miscarriage bhi hoga to I dont see separation still.. Sadistic makers ye dene se rahe.. Ye jo bhi trust issue didi is trying to break.. Its already shaken for imlie.. N imlie promised k she won't say a word about M until she gets proof.. Adi is trying to get that trust back.. So M playing the fake miscarriage might backfire.. Adi might show trust in imlie without imlie even asking for it(okay i won't raise any more hopes now)..

With this trafficking case also coming up.. I don't want to raise my or anyone hopes.. Kuch to closure mil jaaye maybe.. That might actually act as a catalyst to make adi use his brain..
