Big deal, my love

Yes its a big deal, a very big deal even now in this day and age.

Our desi culture never had the concept of having a woman’s name printed on door plates, invitation cards or anywhere important. It’s just something we considered a norm and never bothered questioning the age old regressive belief in the name of culture.

Like Anupama rightly said our women never got that stature to be addressed with their own name, they are always referred to as someone’s mum, daughter in law or wife, sad but true.

Only in the last decade have we seen women wanting to make a name of their own and more name plates these days have two names printed but still around 70% of them have the man’s name printed first It’s just thought provoking how we’ve normalised the concept.

For Anupama to see her her name printed on the card was a big deal and for it to be printed before Anuj’s was an even bigger one. The flashback was gut churning, her silent tears were a testament of her achievement as an individual, as a woman who stands equal to a man...her jumping with joy, her uncontrollable excitement all showed how big a deal this was for her.

Thank you Anuj, my love 🤣

... that song was so darn cheesy, I burst out laughing until there was this sudden gush of air that blew his hair ever so slightly and I was a goner! romance is Anuj/Gaurav’s forte and me being a sucker for it was totally blown away with their adorable kitchen chronicles... the dream was super cute and by now I was humming the song I didn’t know before❤️😳 and when he said aah masale! I was like 👏 to the writers for making their point but thenI was like halwa bana rahe hai ya achaar, what masale is he talking about yaar?🤣

All in all I wasn’t as disappointed as I thought I’d be with the ME. It wasn’t that bad and I’d rather not talk of the negatives here, there shall be another post for that later.

p.s: Anuj in casuals was 😍😍😍

I think he said masale after anu's pallu hit him. He might have smelled the masale there. Even I was confused for a second ki halwe me kaun se masale dalte hain maine to kabhi nahi dale🤣

Absolutely true... We are a society that deify women as Shakthi yet we treat women as lesser mortals and the boy becomes Ghar Ka Chiraagh.

An employed woman works both at home and the work place and in most cases has no right over her earnings which at times is treated a recurring income over which the man has the primary right.

Movable and immovable assets purchased with joint purchasing power still goes on the man's name.

In the South invitations have both names woman followed by man's n a me.

What was heart warming for Anupama was the fact that she had been accorded an honour that her family had ignored.

The family did not even know Anupama s birthday till Samar discovered it was her birthday. That was the day Vanya cut a cake together claiming it was for her promotion and the same Leela Shah was proud of her son and had no problem her son was feeding someone else's wife and being fed by someone else's wife!. It is disgusting that Vanraj speaks of paraya mard when he had had an illicit relationship with a married woman,

The kitchen scene was cute. It gave an insight into the camaraderie between Maan.

That exactly! and couples who only have a girl child are looked down upon or even sympathised with...

I’m from the south too and I’ve only just noticed an upward and progressive trend like in the last decade or so, before it was mostly Mr and Mrs. XYZ ...glad its changing for the better, the baby steps do matter.

Hypocrisy is an unheard concept fir Vanraj and Baa, they have done everything they taunt Anu for so there’s no hope for these two.

MaAn’s kitchen scene was certainly the saving grace of the hyped ME😍

I love both these songs so much...I still listen to them time n again but past mein toh loop mein sunti thi...that movie was flop but songs were hit😆

Bin tere sanam ka yeh stanza kitna baithega na:

Yeh jankar balamji

Thami hai teri baahen

Sehni padegi sabki

Kanton bhari nigahein(baa n v😡)

Sab sahe ge hum

Aur hasenge hum

Aa meri zindagi

Actually mere papa ne bataya ke acche gharon ka yahi rivaaz hai ki invitation cards for weddings (both for invitees and senders) should always have the woman's name first. This is for agarwals and jains in UP i think or educated families maybe. And I think atleast yeh ek change aane laga hai that many young women, even my mom's generation either don't give up their maiden surname or reclaim it unofficially on social media as a marker of identity
