Outta curiosity; why is Ibrahim a better choice than Jehangir? I still haven't gotten an answer to that. He was also a ruler.

Either way, let's say Saif likes Muslim names. Saif likes names of people who were emperors or historic names. His wife is also on board with these names. He's naming his own son these names which are common in other countries. I don't understand the issue. He's naming his own son. He's not forcing this name on a building or any public property right?

If you think about it, a celeb is getting criticized for naming his son a name he likes, for whatever reason he likes that name.

I don't find Jehangir is offensive, but after the Taimur fiasco it looks like a PR exercise.

Taimur is downright extremely offensive and shameful.

That's why I am never marrying anyone outside my religion.

I don't want the religion forced upon me and my kids. That too for my kids whom I took the pain and effort to give birth.

Seriously this is extremely pathetic.

If you wanted to keep a Muslim name, there are tons of beautiful names which don't carey such bloody history to it.

Kareena's own name isn't Hindu either, but she's being oppressed because her child doesn't have a Hindu name. Maybe; just maybe, she doesn't care about hindu names? I mean, doesn't she have that choice? Or we as a society are going to decide that since her father was Hindu, she needs to carry that forward. Coz from I know, Kareena had a much more Christian influence growing up with Mama Babita.

Also correct me if I'm wrong, but Amrita's mom was Muslim right?

And again, Jehangir is not a historically problematic figure nor infamous. There's a Jehangir hospital in Pune from what a member here said so clearly it should not be carrying any stigma other than the fact that it's a Muslim name. And that's clearly up to the parents.
