See i don't care what he named his kids but i am pretty sure in the current celebrity context and the general wave where people want to have as different as possible names for kids , Jahangir sounds outdated. Like i cannot imagine someone naming their kids Ram, Sita, Saraswati these days. So i feel a bit bad for Jehangir. But he is going to be called Jeh anyways, which doesn't sound better.
Lol true say. I knew someone with that name but everyone called him John. For the longest time I didn't even know his name was actually Jehangir.

But in upper middle class Ram is still not used much in current generation, People prefer names which are different and naming a kid has to be a very difficult job but not for saifu jee who is building an empire of his own😆
Totally agree with you!

Well I don't think Kareena cares about the religion part. It's just a name, so shouldn't matter . People in my family have ended up with Urdu/ Persian names too. I personally would like to name my daughter Arzoo or Khushi whenever I have kids.😊
The issue is not religion here IMO.
It is hugely about religion here, as far as I'm concerned. Since Saif does have a history of having a religious childhood, it does seem like he is forcing his beliefs on his wives (it cannot be that none of his two wives thought about non-Muslim names even ONCE for their two kids). Anyway, not interested in discussing this further. Ciao.

Nawab thinks nawab giri will pass on through names. Atleast they are not doing the joker giri they did with dear Tim who sure will have many therapy sessions in future.
LMAO, love this. I feel sorry for the kid; it's not his fault he's got such f*ckhead parents.

I understand. You missed my post pages back stating that I am not Indian so not familiar with their sentiments in regards to this but if it does affect the people then celebrities should be careful so yes I did get your point. I have nowhere negated these feelings and neither did I consider them bigoted. The comment about ignorance and bigotry was in regards to those who specifically mentioned Muslim names as being an issue and not just these specific names.
I am not saying you used the words like bigots, but since you are not familiar with Indian society, and few woke people and Pakistanis make it all about religion, so I just wanted to make it clear to you.
See India is a complex country. And everytime something like this comes up, you will have bigots in the social media, using it to spread hatred. But what happens is because of those bigots, the real issue always get slumped.
Do we in India have a certain degree of dislike for Muslims? Yes do we have. Nothing shameful in admitting it. And that is a result of nearly over a thousand of years of struggle between Hindus and Muslims, and will not go in one day or one generation. And we obviously have politicians who fuel it, because that is the easiest way to gain votes. And it is not helpful that Muslim boards and organisations keep their religion over the country, which results in many Muslim public also acting that same way. I mean Muslims still have thier own law boards. And don't want to accept a Universal Civil Code, fearing they will lose thier religious identity. Which in turn irates the Hindu population, and politicians spin those things in a way that two groups never integrate. It is a complex issue, and people in social media use it accordingly, so whichever group is feeding you the information, you will lean to that group. If you read only right wing feeds, you will develop a mentality that Hindus are suffering because of the constitutional restrictions, if you read left wing feeds, you will develop a mentality that Muslims are suffering. But the truth is anyone is not privileged is suffering, regardless of their religion, caste, creed and so on.

It's completely unrelated but respect to Shah Rukh Khan for not opting for staunch Muslim names for his children.
Whats wrong with Muslim names? White people continue to name their kids Chris, William, Louis, Winston, Max etc no one bats an eye but the moment someone names a Muslim name, people start associating it with terrorists

Before 9/11, the Oklahoma City Bombings were considered probably the worst terrorist attack on American soil. The perpetrator was Timothy McVeigh.
It was a rhetorical question though. The point was we like it or not, worst or mild terror attack but no one really remembered the name, but Timur Lang's name is in history book, kids read his stories in school...
Hitler and Oklahoma bomber are not the same. It would only hurt a certain community who has lost their dear ones. No one knows the name of the Muslim bomb attackers who have been committing that crime for last 20 years at various big cities.

I get what you're saying but I think this is precisely the problem people have with it. They don't want these names whitewashed. For people who feel oppressed or victimized by certain figures, the last thing they want is that name now being associated with something cute and sweet. Do you think Germans would accept a German celebrity naming their kid Hitler? You won't be able to say 'what's in a name' then. People would be extremely offended. When there are millions of names you can choose from, what is the need to pick certain reviled ones? It's about creating unnecessary controversies and poking people for no reason.
They wouldn't like Hitler but there are a lot of people named Adolf in Germany and even the US. There are a lot of people in Russia named Josip or Vladmir. LOL i was reading that someone in Indian politics is named Stalin yet no one talks about that maybe bc its a gora name

It is common in India but I’ve never seen any other Afghan named Simran 🤣. My cousin named her daughter Khushi, because she was obsessed with Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon. Thank fcuk nobody liked Kripa (KYPH) enough to name me after her. I would rather pull my intestines out and eat it 🤮
I can agree with that point. Why such heavy names for something so tiny? But then again, that reminds me of those parents that named their child after a sperm 🤣.
I know quite a few Afghan Simrans but they are Sikh
