Nah, the Indians arent oversensitive........

That's why they issue writs for indecency or some suchlike when Shilpa Shetty and Richard Gere were on stage....

That's why Padmini Kohlapuri was arrested for giving old Prince Charles a peck on the cheek all those years ago.....

But it's all OK for the Bollywood filmies to churn out act after act of suggestiveness and borderline blue movie scenes or near as damn it nudity (but not quite)so as to make it perfectly acceptable.

Nah....Indians arent oversensitive.....theyre just anally retentive hypocrites.

I have observed that most people who belong to the minority community of a place are over-sensitive. Africa-Americans have a problem with everything rest of America does. Some Indians overtly react to some questions about Sati/Dowry etc. by Americans. This is just the case in America but everywhere it is the same. So sometimes majority tries to overdo things to make these minority comfortable.

Some of the things mentioned by Liza93 in the first post is work of some jobless people posing as moral polices of our culture. They issue fatwas to women while their men walk around breaking every rule in the book. They beat young lovers celebrating Valentine's Day and secretly harm poor women.

depends. depends on whether we are at the receiving end or at the giving end. and that's universal, not just an indian thing. 😊

Hi,

There have been many debates about whether indians are too sensitive when it comes to our national flag or national anthem. Sania Mirza decided not to play from india because of so many controversies surrounding her, fatwas being given to her for wearing short skirts, pictures of her putting her legs near the flag floating in the media creating a havoc in public. Protests taking place because Sachin tendulkar cut a cake on which tiranga was made, effigies being burnt etc. And there can be many more examples-Narayan Murthy, Mandira Bedi etc.

All these people have had to apologise in public for a few statements that they made.

The question is- Do we over-react in a situation like this?Or is this right? What role does the media play?

Being sensitive is a good thing. it helps us process and apply our values else we would end up with moral constipation.😊

It is a known fact some people are born with hyper sensitivity, something like being allergic to pollen, dust etc. for those .. a touch is a blow, a sound is a noise, a misfortune is a tragedy, a joy is an ecstasy, a friend is a lover, a lover is a god, and failure is death. 😊

hmmm....."moral constipation". Sounds as bad as "emotional constipation" some uptight people suffer from😆

oh, you mean the "delicate darlings" of the world😆

a friend is a lover, a lover is a god,

that would be the delusional fools out there😆

and failure is death. 😊

that's me...to an extent😳 I don't like failures. If I ever encounter one, I find a way to turn it around into an opportunity and end up gaining something out of it as well😊
